On the research trip through Europe now in Normandy I wanted to stop at one of the first V1 launch facilities, and take you all with me on the first walk through.
It is an interesting location as it is the first generation out of many that I will cover in far more detail over the years episodes.

The decomposition of T-Stoff into hot steam and oxygen caused by the addition of the catalyst Z-Stoff (an aqueous solution of permanganates) was used to drive the split-tube steam catapults which launched the V-1 flying bomb.

The V1 was liquid fueled. Z Stoff and T Stoff was used for the catapult launching the V1. If you mix Z- and T-Stoff you get steam. In the V2 the Z- and T-Stoff was used to drive the turbo-pump for the actual fuel and oxidizer.

Good luck out there Tino...can't wait for your discoveries, even if it is something known. So little is really shared from sites there.

Just thinking about the inverted pyramid pond.

No tar in sight, however there is a class of clay called "Smectite", which is widely used as a "liner" for all sorts of water-engineering applications, from small ponds to huge, rock-wall dams.

Also used in small "ponds" is a liner of coarser clay, mixed with a "biomass" blend. This is used to "seal" small dams, elevated "ponds" on farms, etc. The the microbes in the mix form a sort-of "glue" that resists water drainage, thus functional water storage can be built on relatively permeable soil without major loss. Check out farming and grazing folk if you want to go down that rabbit-hole.

There is so much history of the war, and yet we will never remember all of it. You can never show enough, so not to be repeated, Someone said, " War is Hell." Even now so many have forgotten D-Day, so many souls still replay the event everyday till eternity.
