I remember reading years ago in university that entombed creatures in amber were very common in Burma and that they were often cut out before sale. I wonder how many species unknown or known have been lost because they neither recognized or cared about the scientific value :(

My friend found a dark peice of amber he couldn't tell what was in it since it was so dark he could see something in it, He had a jewler cut it open to see what was in it turns out it contained a intricately carved Norse Viking ring in it.
