What to Feed Blue Birds in the Winter

Many of us love feeding bluebirds. It's so much fun to watch these beautiful birds. But how do you know what to feed bluebirds in the winter or any time it's very cold outside. Richard Cole, the founder of Cole's Wild Bird Products is an expert on feeding birds. He says choose high fat, nutrition packed foods like mealworms, suet and sunflower meats.

yeah and it's they're not bad I won't I
will not admit to eating them I'm just

them let's talk about bluebirds in
particular yeah everybody's favorite
just about I mean every who doesn't like
bluebirds and there's several varieties
in the United States so and what should
you be feeding them in the winter in the
winter time there again sunflower Meats
they can eat that where they can't crack
a sunflower seed they how little their
beak is yeah and but would you you have
meal worms there's a lot of dried meal
worms available now and in packages and
things and they love those they love oh
my goodness I had like six or seven
eight bluebirds today and yesterday on a
little on a little Feeder full of just
dried meal worms wow and they just
cleaned it out and uh I also have SE
Kibbles we have a product of SE Kibbles
it's just it's like SE in a cake but
it's just in little pellets yeah and all
the birds love that stuff all of them
lead it especially the bluebirds they
really like that because they can eat it
and it's got the nutrition in there they
need and the fat content they need and
they like live mill worms as well dried
ones right and the only problem with the
live ones is they're mess it's
complicated it's complicated to keep
them they're expensive because they're
live and a lot of people just want to
say o but uh they have started making a
lot of them now that are dried they just
basically toast them lightly it dries
them out but the nutrition that the
birds need are still there and once they
get used to them they eat them they love
them I love that idea of toasting your
me worms just a little anything about
putting them on toast or anything like
that but do people do eat dried be worms
Oh really yeah and it's they're not bad
I won't I will not admit to eating them
I'm just saying I say author
that they're not bad they have a a light
toasted nutty Aroma to them little
crunchy they're good like a little
potato chip okay kide Birds really like
those and the ones that don't eat a lot
of seeds will eat the meal worms and
it's a great source of protein and helps
them get in the winter time
