The thing I always tell people before they read the novel is; it doesn't matter at all if you know any of the fashion brands, the thing being communicated is how Patrick not only knows them, but he cares SO much it consumes his inner monologue.

Ellis has stated that he disliked the idea that Patrick was gay. Ellis being gay has caused some to make the speculation. And he disliked that because he found it insulting to him as a writer.

I really like him being in the corner of the video because his voice is, almost intimidating, but he looks so polite? Just a polite lad in the corner, reclining. I love it.

Exeter isn't a fictional school, it's a wealthy boarding academy on the east coast. It is short for Phillips Exeter

The way Patrick Bateman kills people is so absurd in the movie and book. In the book, the food is also absurd. The characters are served Red snapper pizza, pork loin with lime Jello, baby soft shell crabs with grape jelly, and lots of other inedible dishes.

It's kinda funny that the American Psycho novel was published in 1991, as that was the year the yuppie era supposedly ended.

One thing that wasn't mentioned here, in the novel near the end, Patrick gets into a taxi and the driver recognizes his face from a wanted poster and thinks about turning him in. Instead he steals Patrick's watch and kicks him out of the cab. So I think some of it was definitely real. I'd like to say what i think is real but I'd have to go back and read them and see if anything seems off

I love how you delve into the writers mind. It’s so true as a young writer myself on how these dark ideas get put to paper.

And remember, Patrick uses alcohol free face moisturizer. Because alcohol is bad.

One of the few versions of Batman that killed The Joker.

Would be interesting if you did an Analyzing Evil on Cyberpunk’s Saburo Arasaka. A man who cheats death, runs an evil mega-corp, heartless, narrow minded, and a mass murderer.

You couldn't gave said it better vile: the most terrifying thing about patrick is that just like todd from Breaking bad, he's the kind of person you'll see walking down the street and not look twice at. There's nothing obviously evil about them, which make their heinous actions all the more terrifying

In the movie its more ambiguous, but in the book he's recognised a few times but people dont turn him in because of money.
Off the top of ny head, a homeless man he maimed pretends he's a vietnam vet who got injured, the realtor (in the movie) he tells him to get out because the apartment would lose value and a cabbie who robs patrick at gunpoint because he recognise him from a photo they have at the depot.
