As a victim of several different narcissists throughout my life, its really important to learn what red flags and the abuse cycle looks like, and its important to learn from a young age. Now dealing with the aftermath I am a) lucky to be alive and b) pretty broken and see red flags everywhere even if they aren't always red flags (and yes been through years of therapy).

If you can avoid abusive relationships to begin with it can save you a lot of pain. Not always as easy for children of abusive parents though because the life lessons they learn are not nurturing or helpful to build a strong defense against abusers, and if anything makes them (including myself) more prone to abusive relationships in the future.

Been on the receiving end of love bombing once. Didn't know what it was called at ther time. He said, "in a month if you still want to be with me you'll move in... then in 6 months we'll get married... then 6 months later we'll start trying to have a baby..."
I said "no, no, no, you don't even have all of your ex girlfriend's sh*t out of your house yet, so anything serious is going to wait until all her crap is out of your house and you are truly ready to move on."

He changed his mind about wanting to be with me shortly thereafter because I couldn't be manipulated into doing things on his schedule.

I don't want to say that there's a rush in relationships either but there is definitely a time limit. Otherwise people will string you along and future fake if you're not careful. You can't be getting used either

I feel since when we are young it was a given to even have friends who do this.thankfully now with this generation I have taught my kids what I was taught. Words are words people will say what you want to hear! Look at thier actions see who they are. Watch people and if it feels like someone is smothering you, run lol my parents divorced but they showed respect and taught us to much of anything CAN will become an obsession! I’ve fallen into the love bomb ditch and then straight into someone who basically ignores me. The healthy space in between is where we need to be.

OMG! Thank you, Mayim! This is exactly what happened to me during a Pandemic romance I had. I didn't have a name for it. I wish I had at the time. This was exactly the very thing I was so uncomfortable with in my relationship.

The healthy balance on both sides is important and is often hard to remember, especially when someone has dealt with a previously unhealthy relationship. Just because you dound someone good doesn't mean they should get love bombed or locked down asap....
