Bruh the German tanks lacks anythjng but heating, legit their tanks are build comfort first and logistic later... unlike soviet tank which doesn't even give a shite if the turret cut their crew arms off or not

What?? German tanks, starting with the Panzer 1 DID have crew heaters of one kind or another.
Late war Panthers had a fantastic system known as a "Kampfruamheizung."
Other tanks had vents and ducts to vent heat from the radiators, etc into the crew compartment. Plus, the batteries are in the crew compartment and during this time in history, it was important to keep them at a constant temperature to get the most out of them.
Even the little Hetzer had a system to heat the crew.
But, the video is correct as far as treads and engines freezing up. Most of these tanks ran on straight weight engine oil... nothing like what we enjoy today with 5w-30 etc. So thickened oil from a vehicle which has been shut down for any length of time could be a major problem. I have read where Sherman crews would actually build a fire and stack the burning coals under the engine to warm the oil, etc.

The German generals read the books of Napoleon's generals who recounted their setbacks during the retreat from Russia, with each new chapter they knew what to expect.
Russian tanks, designed for the Russian climate and combat in extreme cold in the snow, remained operational.
The Soviets had brought out the Cossak horsemen who fell at a gallop and slashed with sabers the soldiers of the German armored columns who could not defend themselves, all the weapons had grease congealed by the cold, only the bayonets being usable.
It was forbidden to urinate or more while lowering one's pants, too great a risk of freezing of parts such as the penis or the anus, putting nearly 20% of the soldiers out of action,
the winter of 41-42 being one of the hardest in history.
I discovered this in a book which explained in detail what they had endured during that winter, just unimaginable. 🥶🥶🥶

German vehicles had even a further problem:
There were vehicles delivered to Siberia that were made for the Sahara, due to shortage. They had summer oil with a high viscosity in the transmission and engine. It was impossible to drive these vehicles off the train as all oils were became solid.
These vehicles had to be pulled off the train by tanks, while the wheels of the vehicles didn't rotate at all.
The vehicles had to enter a workshop, had to get heated externally so that an oil change from summer- to winter-oil could be performed.

I served 30 years (1985-2015) in the United States Army with 18 years in combat arms; Armor crewmen and Field Artillery. It really hurts when you hear the stories of what the German Army was put through because of their fanatical ruler.
They were soldiers and most importantly they were not involved with the Nazi party.
Just like Field Marshall Rommel, "the desert fox". He was not part of the Nazi party and actually he attempted to assassinate Hitler. He was a devoted family man and he committed suicide after the failed attempt to spare his family the retribution.😮

1865, the end of the Civil War, to the beginning of the US involvement in WWII was 77 years. The end of WWII to today is 78 years.

Even Russian tank crews went through the same issues.

They also kindled a fire under the rear hull to heat up the engine and oil

At that point in the war, German citizens would donate coats to the troops Because they Did not have winter uniforms. As noted in the picture.

The wheels were interlock and they would get plugged with snow that melted into ice, mud could halt the tank because of getting between the wheels

They also mixed gas in the oil, it would burn off later, but thinned the oil enough to get the engine turning over....

I would love to see a modern tank mechanic customize and upgrade a world war 2 panzer

Tigers and Panthers had an Interwoven Wheel Sispension so Snow Froze overnight seizing them, Germans had to unfreeze them but Russians realised and attacked in early hours to surprise Germans before they were mobile

It wasn't so much the resilience of the Red Army soldiers who turned the tide on the German invaders. That winter was an extremely cold one and one that the Soviets had to endure as well. You'll always defend your homeland.

Germans couldn't handle the Russian winters. This contributed to the outcome of the war.
