This is chapter 1 of NCERT Social and Political Life II Class 7 Textbook titled ON EQUALITY where through life situation we have seen that how a lady who works as a maid in the home of a rich man sees that in the line of casting vote she is equivalent to her employer whereas when she has to take her ill child to a doctor she has to wait for long hours to get the checkup of her daughter done and this is where she feels that she is not equal to others and is in a very disadvantaged position. We also got to know the principle of universal adult franchise which means that every citizen can cast his or her vote. Then we have listened the story of omprakash valmiki named joothan in which a dalit was severely humiliated in his school. The challenges in the cause of attaining complete democracy in India has also been discussed in this video. Watch the video for more details.
