Whonix Install and Review

In this episode of the CyberGizmo we explore Whonix. Whonix is a distro designed to run on a Virtualbox VM (and a few others) running on Linux, MacOS or Windows. So you can take advantage of its privacy features without having to give up the operating system you are currently using. Whonix is also the anon-guest for Qubes so it wear many hats and is designed to protect all applications which connect to the network, not just your web browsing habits. I also compare Whonix to Qubes, Tails and the Tor Browser (alone) somewhat.

i want to use Nmap in kali linux to scan open ports for a particular host trough Whonix gateway, but i hear that Nmap will shows many false open ports, please any solution to how we use Nmap trough Whonix to scan just ports of the host .

About a month ago I read in the news that power companies where I am [Australia] formed an agreement with Amazon to sell household smart meter data to Amazon. What my energy use in my house has to do with Amazon I don't know. I think that it's safe to say that similar agreements to sell smart meter data have occurred in the US. It is just another piece of privacy gone. Of course I am not allowed to refuse a smart meter; they were installed by compulsion and I can't touch them because they are not owned by me. Sigh.

Hi there, Gateway and Workstation don't work together at the same time. When I start one, I got an error for another as ''Failed to allocate 134217728 bytes of VRAM (VERR_NO_PAGE_MEMORY)' I have 4 GB ram. I seperated 2 GB for Kali Linux. Is there a insufficient ram issue, and how should I split the ram ? Thank you.

Which do you think is better Whonix or proxychains on Kali Linux ?

Very nice presentation!! However, I never succeed in launching the gateway. I get random errors sometimes, sometimes I get nothing but a blinking cursor, it seems totally random so very hard to debug 😞
