Plants vs Zombies is for sure an iconic game franchise, but surprisingly many doubts arise with the iconic character crazy dave and the characters that surround him

Another thing that a lot of people seem to not mention is that in PVZ2 it shows us that Dr. Zomboss turned Dave into a sleeper agent (probably when Dave was taken at the end of PVZ1) but Zomboss couldn't activate him because he forgot the phrase to awaken him

My personal headcanon since the first game is, Dave and Edgar were the founders or at least, worked at Bloom and Doom Seed Co. Dave worked on Botanics (Bloom) and Edgar worked on Bioweapons (Doom). Edgar created a breakthrough virus that turned everyone into zombies. He himself also got infected but instead of being a brainless monster, he became an "alpha" of sorts. The leader of the infection. Dave in an effort to battle his old friend, used mutant plants designed for warfare to battle the horde. He then settled in a suburban neighborhood where he would stand his ground until he died. This however slowly drove him insane since everyone around him are rotting corpses trying to eat his flesh. Eventually, Dave snaps and the events of PvZ 1 take place where Dave hallucinates his old neighbor and trains them to survive the zombie apocalypse even though it's his own house that is under attack.

the reason crazy dave wears the pot on his head is probably because it stops his brains from getting eaten

The more interesting thing is that in the official guide to protecting your brains at the last page with the bloom and doom seed Co., we get to see it was founded in 1968, the founder being Barbra Johns who had a brother(deceased)

Also I just remembered that in the book there's zombie history in the wild west era that revealed zombies are immune to bullets as a shootout between zombies lasted weeks until the townspeople complained about the noise

Another fun fact: At Plants vs Zombies 2, on Dr. zomboss' dialogue he said that Penny (the talking time traveling car) was created by Zomboss himself, Even Penny was surprised and she says that she might be "The daughter of Zomboss" so i agree to the theory of Crazy Dave stealing ideas or even creations from Dr Zomboss

I heard from the creator that Dr.Zombot and Dave used to be collage roommates and that Doctor zombot wasn't always a zombie and evil he wanted to out class Dave by trying to cure death by using gas but it didn't make people immortal it turned people into zombies and he either went crazy or just decided to use the zombies to get back at Dave, Dave actually used Dr.Zombots Zombie serum to create the first plants so the plants are actually part zombie.

Something interesting I found was that in a Chinese PvZ game, Crazy Dave has a younger brother named Brave Dave. Brave Dave was the mayor of Plant Town, until his brains were eaten.

The plants in pvz are made by acompany called doom and gloom.
Crazy dave has been confirmed to make the plants (meaning he either owns or works for the corporation).
The plants are used for war in the garden warfare games.
Crazy dave works for the military industrial complex.

It is a very misterious franchise. Something i notice tho is that actually seems like a war between Zombies and humans since we see houses with lights on wich means that there would be humans somewhere. The plants are also intelligent and as we see in gw games can actually move, and if you read the plants descriptions it also suggests that they live in a society with humans, since some of them state that they had Jobs that would only be required if humans were still there (like Jobs at the bakery). In other words, i dont know how that war was created but it isnt just between dave and Dr zomboss. There are still lots of humans, and in garden warfare 1 we see Planes in some of the maps wich means humans still exist and use that. So what i believe is that all of the games just take place on the Front, and beyond that humans still live. But on the other side, zombie descriptions also suggest that they live in societies and are intelligent since they can use Tools and write. So plants vs Zombies could be about a war between two societies, lead by two Former friends who Split apart and created both of their armies. I would love it if they made an official and big law, because there is potential.

Doctor Zomboss isn’t the total ruler of the Zombies, it was confirmed in the PVZ 1 Almanac that he was a leader of his Subdivision, not even a full division, that means there’s a mastermind behind all this somewhere.

Zomboss has a PhD in Thanotology. Thanotology is actually the study of death ("Thanos" being the Greek word for death). So it would make sense that someone with that knowledge would be the one to create zombies.

Something that people don't realise is that crazy Dave is using his pot for protection against the zombie apocalypse, he might be crazy but he still remembers the old way to make intelligent plants, zomboss because the boss of all zombies, made a whole robot zombie to fight Dave, it also might be that he was jealous of how he made living plants, live more, so he did the same thing on living humans and it turned out to make a zombie apocalypse...
