The Philippines built the first nuclear plant in Southeast Asia in 1985. However, the plant has not produced a single watt to date. Interest in nuclear energy has resurfaced due to high energy costs, and climate concerns with burning coal. But campaigners who cite safety concerns and advocate for renewables oppose it.

As the country with the most expensive electricity cost in Asia, The Philippine government has been very busy enriching the pockets of politicians instead of reviving this power plant decades ago. It is not too late though.

We have the rights to use this asset and to have access to cheaper electricity. Our form of government and the quality of our politicians is nonsense!

Nuclear energy ‘does not reduce the price of electricity’
Nuclear power plants can be attractive for their owners but not necessarily for consumers as they hardly ever determine the price of electricity on the energy exchange
The price of electricity is formed at the energy exchange and it is always determined by the most expensive power plant which is necessary to meet demand. And usually it is the gas power plant which is the most expensive and determines the price of electricity
This is a question of who gains and who pays. When somebody says that the nuclear power plant is cheap, it is for the owner but not necessarily for the consumer

Philippines could build it in one of their minor islets, so that if a nuclear melt down occurs, it will only be confined in a small area unlike Chernobyl.

Many politics are slow to make this work and some politics protest on using the Bataan nuclear power plant and some Electric middle man does not want any other compitions because they will lost their investment until the nation will totally going to bank krupt because of high electricity cost per kilowatts which is now almost 10 to 15 Pesos today 2024. If this will not be resolve i'm sure in the next 5 to 10 years Philippines will suffer the high cost of producing electricity and for sure there will be no more foriegn company investor to come here in the Philippines if they can not have their own electricity power source independent from the grid line of NAPOCOR.

*The international law* is very clear on the South China Sea:
- parts of it belong to some ASEAN countries including the Philippines 🇵🇭,
- the rest of it is the international water,
- no part of it belongs to China🇨🇳 or Taiwan🇹🇼.

Still looking for experts who can answer what would have happened if the Bataan Nuclear power plant operated in the 90's when
1.The 1990 Luzon earthquake happened
2 The 1991 Mount Pinatubo eruption
Both happened on the same area where the nuckear plant is located
