What is heritable human genome editing and when will it happen? Dr. Tony Perry says they are on the path to figuring out DNA editing but there are various technical, political, legislative, and social issues that will majorly delay research and results. Watch his talk to learn more about his work.

Dr. Tony Perry is Head of the Laboratory of Mammalian Molecular Embryology at the University of Bath, UK. His lab has developed methods of introducing external genetic information into animals, as well as methods to change the information already present.

At the center of Dr. Perry’s research is the remarkable and mysterious process by which fertilization transforms a sperm and egg into single-cell embryos that give rise to an entire individual. Modifying its genome allows us to modify the genome of the resulting offspring. This opens up exciting possibilities in the treatment – or even elimination – of certain diseases.

Leave the DNA alone. Too much curiosity that is irrelevant and dangerous.
