This plenary will discuss approaches to curtailing the impact of non-communicable disease (NCDs) globally. In recent decades, NCDs have surpassed infectious diseases as the leading cause of mortality and morbidity with NCDs now accounting for over 70% of all deaths worldwide. Notably low- and middle-income countries bear a disproportionate burden of premature mortality from NCDs. Prevention and control of NCDs will require multidimensional efforts ranging from national government action and policies to locally tailored strategies leveraging evidence-based interventions worldwide. This panel of experts will explore components of a comprehensive framework to effectively tackle NCDs worldwide.
