Valve: hires people who makes game mods
Sega: hires rom hackers to make official sonic games
Nintendo: THIS IS ILLEGAL YOU KNOW!

The thing that pisses me off the most about videos like this is that everybody seems to forget to mention that the patents were filed AFTER Palworld came out. So they saw a game being competition to them, realized they couldn't sue them for copyright infringement and got so pissed they invented a bunch of extremely vague, industry destroying patents after the fact to retroactively sue them. This is literal deranged psychopathic mobster behavior and it feels like nobody is freaking out enough about that. Imagine living in a world where you can make something cool and a corporation says "Hey I like that, I will make up a patent now to sue you into oblivion and steal that idea for myself". If Nintendo wins this legal battle in any capacity it's fucking Joever for us.

I believe a new law should be made where any product no longer being officially sold becomes defacto public domain and the IP owners can't legally go after anyone. In the name of fairness, if the product is sold again, any acts of piracy after that point can be sued. This forces companies to actually do something with their properties and allows the public to properly preserve them.

Yeah Nintendo is never gonna win. Each emulator they take down, 2 more appear. Same goes with fangames

Suyu (Sue You) is honestly the most appropriately named Nintendo emulator.

Fun fact, Nintendo is actually BREAKING Japanese Patent laws by trying to Patent these mechanics because turns out POCKET PAIR CREATED THE OPWN WORLD MONSTER CAPTURE SYSTEM~!!! AND on top of that, The Mechanic itself is Public Domain as Pocket Pair didn't patent it after THEY created it. So TECHNICALLY and LEGALLY Nintendo is trying to Patent a game machinic They DID NOT Creator which is THIEF in Japan and that's not even everything illegal Nintendo is doing with this lawsuit. I'd suggest doing Research on it if you wanna learn more cause it is insane. By my assessment Nintendo has broken anywhere from 12 to 28 Japanese Patent and copyright laws. If Pocket Pair is smart enough to capitalize on this and willing to stick it to Nintendo. There is a decent chance of Pokémon being forced into the Public Domain. Meaning ANYTHING from Generation 9 and back will be Public Domain and free to use by ANYONE.

Oh it's really easy to hate Nintendo they'd probably sue a kid with cancer if he had an off brand Nintendo T-shirt

Nintendo just put themselves in that terrible position where they HAVE to keep making really good games unless they want people to start bringing up their horrible legal practices.

They're toeing the line to becoming modern Disney or pre-crazy modern Kanye. A couple of missteps and they'll have people saying "Man, I miss *old* Nintendo" while others dig up their dirty laundry to air out for another PR hit.

Can't wait, honestly.

Here’s a fun little fact:
Nintendo’s first break into the North American market, Donkey Kong, was originally a really bad Space Invaders *BOOTLEG* that flopped so hard, that they made Donkey Kong to replace the boards of the cabinets for the game.
Nintendo started with a bootleg, and have the audacity to sue people who spend years making works in their honor.

Nintendo: Nah frick you we are pulling this one from shelves forever in a few months.

what's interesting is I've heard that the actual devs at Nintendo like fangames. and IIRC they said that they would like to find a way to have a policy as to not sue people who just make fangames out of love.

Nintendo always reminds me of this one scene from The Simpsons:

“How much is this beer?”

“45 bucks.”

“45 bucks?! This must be the best tasting beer in the world!”

*Takes a sip*

“You got lucky.”

I said this many times before, but I'll say it again here: I don't hate Nintendo itself, I hate them as a corporate company

Nintendo really are hypocrites when it comes to emulators. They do their best at wanting to take them down but when they opened the Nintendo museum almost every single game was being run on an emulator and not on original hardware. They locked the cables so people wouldn't disconnect them to try not to get exposed more than they already have.

They can't keep acting scummy forever, right?

Patenting “riding animals” and “shadows” is really a scummy thing.
They will invent grand-child patents in the near future, the child patent of a child patent.

Nintendo sued Blockbuster probably because in Japan, any media rental was made illegal unless the rental had permission with the copyright owners.

how naive i was when i said "oh maybe don't use the official name of the game to make your own game"
Palworld comes out and nintendo still sue them, there is no defense for this other than petty issue over monopoly of monster collector game
