I didn't mention battery life in my Surface Pro 7 review, simply because I had a lot to cover! So here's a summary of my thoughts:

The battery life is slightly worse than the Battery life in the Surface Pro 6.

While continuously web surfing on 150 nits of brightness (Very low brightness), Laptop Mag had this lasting 7 hours and 52 minutes. The Surface Pro 6 lasted 9 hours and 20 minutes in the same test.

Your average user will probably use their screens at 200 to 250 nits of brightness. So if you put your brightness higher than 150 nits, and you do more intensive work like video editing, while web surfing, you may only get 5-6 hours of screen time.

If you turn on some battery saver options and have your brightness a little lower, and maybe you aren't doing super intensive work, you may get 8 hours of battery life. It really just depends on what you do. Regardless, this battery is slightly worse than the Surface Pro 6, which is a disappointment.

Thank you for the video. I really enjoyed it and it’s the best review of the Surface Pro 7. I was wondering if you have tried connecting the device to an external monitor via USB-C. How is the performance and do you think a fanless device like the Pro 7 i5 version can be connected to an external monitor by USB-C for maybe 95% of the time used?

Very objective comparison and review, i just decided by this surface 7, because i need to install a 64 bit native software, but if all your work is online, there are other offers, i like chrome OS and chromebooks, for me the best of the best. Beware of Surface pro X, the processor is not Intel or AMD, is same as phones, tablets, etc.., so is a super device, fast, smooth, etc..but if you need to install chrome browser, photoshop, autocad, you named, you cant (due to the processor), or at least you will need emulators that drain your battery, etc.., etc..

Thanks for your objective review - but let me say something towards the scaling issue of usa today. This is at 99 percent an issue of a poor responsive design of that website - and it seems to be solved in the meantime. I cannot reproduce it anymore with scaling of 200% and the latest version of chrome.

Will this device hold it's own and survive with me as my primary laptop, if I get the Pro 7 (i5 and 8GB RAM model) ?? ...

I heavily use Microsoft office apps (large speardsheet, PowerPoints, large word and PDF files with alot of different content) for an 8-9 hours a day, I currently have a fourth generation i5 dell latitude laptop with an HDD and it's getting slow doing my day to day mentioned activities.
