Microsoft Surface Pro 7 Review | Best convertible of 2020?

Review of Microsoft's new Surface Pro 7 convertible laptop, after using it as my personal device in 2020. This Windows tablet transforms into a notebook thanks to the keyboard and kickstand, offering a flexible design - but how's the performance, gaming chops, battery life, and everything else? This review covers everything you need to know before buying the Surface Pro 7.

While the new Pro X may boast a sleeker design and a specs boost, the Surface 7 feels more of a standard upgrade over last year's 6. You get a speed boost thanks to the Intel 10th Gen chipset, plus added features like a Type-C USB port. However, for the most part, this is the same tablet-cum-laptop we love.

Here in the UK, prices start at £800 but quickly rise if you want a Core i5 or Core i7 model. Those top end versions are better for multi-tasking, gaming and light video editing, although the Iris Plus graphics are still limited for creative tasks. You're best off sticking with photo editing and sketching, despite the disappointing colour accuracy vs rivals from Apple and Dell.

Im a professional artist. I use the Surface Pro 7 and digital pen and frankly it's the top, I have never encountered a crash or bug or anything, I recommend.
I just received my XP-Pen Artist 24 Pro in the mail last week, and I must say, it's a fantastic device. surface pro was just too small, and not hefty enough but it's portable to carry out. The build on the XP-Pen is great, the 24 inch screen is a perfect working size. Having the programmable buttons is great as well.

The kickstand is for sure awkward at first but after like a month you honestly get used to using it and adjusting to the right angle so that its always comfortable

I have had surface products ever since the Surface Pro 6. The Surface lineup is actually what I moved onto when switching from the Mac. Although I prefer the sleekness and refined look of MacOS when compared to Windows, to me Windows devices are just different. Take for instance the Surface Pro lineup. You have a hybrid desktop that offers both functionality and portability. The device offers enough power to mow through any workflow you may have on the go. Although the screen is not the best and isn't meant for gaming, you can definitely accomplish a lot when it comes to Microsoft Office tasks and Web Browsing. When watching videos from youtube or Netflix the speakers are great and the typing experience on the type cover can make any typist more accurate.

What I love about the Surface Pro 7, is the portability and productivity I can achieve from the device when on the Go. If I leave my hotspot from my phone on, I can literally work from anywhere. I like it better than a laptop because of the options to either use the type cover or the onscreen Keybaord, but let's face it I would definitely recommend getting the type cover.

Surface Pro 7 is the best Surface at the moment (from my point of view), I’m happy to have the Surface Pro 6 🤗
Only thing missing is.... Thunderbolt 3
Hopefully this comes next year and maybe a bit battery, there is still a lot of space in the device.

seriously thinking of getting one soon - are there any major apps / programs I wouldn't be able to use that I'm used to using on a Macbook and iPad? love the 2 in 1 with the surface pro

Always been a macbook person, never tried anything like this before and I always hated tablets, but I decided to try something new. I ordered this and comes in Friday so we’ll see how it goes. So far everything I’ve seen has been pretty positive and it seems like people really enjoy using it for school and other “on the go” type stuff which is what I plan on using it for, light stuff.

I really hope they take what they did with Surface Pro x, and apply them to the next surface pro. Better battery, smaller borders, and hopefully a bigger display, hide the pen in the keyboard etc.
