chords are great on base. I love chords. Yeah the minor major seven is not talked about very often. Now here is a sidebar. We play bass lines primarily, and sometimes we play double stops and or chords on base. But one thing that is not talked about very often is playing melodies on base. Vocal melodies in a solo Astec way. Maybe melodies you might hear from a flute or a saxophone or any other instrument. I like doing this just for fun and then adding expressions on to the melody.

Question on the progression you play at 6:17. It's Amin7 - Dmin7 - Emin7... so It's a CMaj (VI, II, III) progression right? I don't know why at first I thought it was a melodic or harmonic minor scale but there are not three minor chords in any of them.
