This guy was the best centerfielder I've ever seen. He should be in the Hall of Fame for his defense alone.

People may never realize how hard that #1 catch was. Greatest one I've ever seen

An aspect of that #1 catch that I rarely see called out: the fact he doesn’t even turn his head around. He got a last glance of the ball straight over his head, judges the trajectory, lays out and snags it. It’s one thing to make a full extension catch like that when the ball is at an angle, but this was almost exactly straight over his head, meaning there was a moment that he didn’t have visibility on the ball.

The number 1 catch was THE GREATEST CATCH I’ve ever seen!

Over the shoulder(s) full speed run, body extension in full dive all while he can no longer see the ball. Unreal instinct of where the ball and his glove would be to catch it. It’s hands down the best catch I’ve ever seen. Willy’s was great, but this is on a whole other level.

We were so lucky in the 90s. Centerfielders like Edmonds, Griffey, and Andruw Jones.

Best center fielder ever in my opinion. I played the position. They left out alot of his plays and he can hit

His top three catches are the best ever for anyone else, while his #1 is arguably the best defensive play by a centerfielder ever.

He's the reason I played centerfield. I couldn't hit a curve to save my life, but I could play center better than the rest. I was always wanting to mimick Jimmy Ballgame.
