One of the many problems of Marxism is that since Marx days the world just didnt develop as he expected. Namely that capitalism not just not collapsed, but didnt lead to the predicted poverty (quite the contrary). So i guess the turn to psychology was a necessary act of escapismm, to keep the cult going.
