How about politicians take a pay cut to cover these. Oh, and give them the same healthcare we are pushed into.

If it is held up by the court the money should come from the colleges endowments

How about capping college tuition hikes!

Why are we forgiving loans when we should be taking money from those colleges endowments to pay off the loans the students have

If you want to solve the problem, get the government out of the student loan business.

If someone doesn't have enough collateral to get a real loan then they will have to work their way through or not go.

Colleges charge so much because they know that the students can get the loan no matter what they charge.

Every single student will remember who tried to stop the student aid relief. Lots of 18 year old kids dont know about how predatory these loans are and dont know what they are getting into and are getting screwed over as a result. The only people who are saying they should pay their debt are ones who went to school when it was 50 time cheaper and you could pay off your debt while working a part time summer job. Boomers have no clue and still think you can get a job by walking to an establishment and ask for one and also buy a meal for a quarter. By the way I have mine fully payed off so I would not get a penny in relief.

for the vast majority of students the current version of student aid is a debt trap, most kids wind up making a huge financial decision without any proper guidance. The resulting grads are effectively indentured wage slaves to the loan holders. A better solution is needed than 'forgiving' a portion based on 'need' All that will happen is that the education industry will find a way to raise their process to take advantage of that. They have all pretty much become paper mills where the intrinsic value of a 'degree' is effectively zero for most grads.

If the Supreme Court strikes down the student loan cancellation plan, this will definitely impact my decision not to vote for Republicans who will run for US President and government office in 2024.

If I have to pay off their student loans, they can return the favor and pay off my mortgage

Since I didn’t go to college I want the taxpayers to pay my mortgage down.

Make rich people pay back their PPP loans should help cover the costs for people who really need it

the president doesn't have the authority to unilaterally spend billions of taxpayer dollars. that is the purview of congress, period.

Congress does this, not the executive branch. Biden overstepped his boundaries.

If you sign for the loan for college, then You are the one responsible for the repayment of the loan.

I had $95k of student loan debt. Worked my @$$ to pay my own debt. Then I went back to school, and got a nursing degree at a private school taking out another $40k of student loan debt. I finished nursing school in 12/2019, just to start working as a nurse through the beginning of COVID. I worked my @$$ off through the COVID pandemic working 6 shifts a week just to pay off my own student loan debt. Now, I don’t even qualify, because I made too much money. Even if I did qualify, no one should be responsible to pay my obligations except for me. Let those idiots pay their own debts. What’s next? A general debt forgiveness fund for anyone making less than $125k/year?! College is not mandatory. No one forced anyone (including me) to go to college, and and no one forced them to sign a debt obligation. I could’ve gone to a nursing school where the tuition was $12k for the entire program. I chose to go to the school I wanted to attend, because it matched my learning style. I chose to accept my own debt obligations, because it met my goals. I chose to work my @$$ off to pay my own debts, because it was the correct thing to do.
