Why KFC Is Dying

KFC once ruled the roost when it came to chicken. But over the last decade they've lost their crown. And worryingly, their decline shows no signs of stopping. So what's going wrong? In this video we're investigating the disturbing truth about the fall of KFC.

You may have heard stories - or even personally experienced - the decline in KFC's quality recently.

Despite being one of the most successful fast food franchises in the world, KFC’s quality has been getting worse and worse.

From serving rotten and uncooked chicken, to rats jumping on diners laps... All of those stories paint a grim picture of the modern KFC.

But the clues have been there for decades. In fact, the fall in quality was the reason founder Colonel Sanders REFUSED to eat at KFC!

To get the full story, we have to the origins of KFC, or Kentucky Fried Chicken as it was then known... back to when Colonel Sanders took a risky gamble and bet everything on his special blend of “11 herbs and spices.”

From a gas station menu item, to a global restaurant chain making billions of dollars each year, KFC’s expansion was truly remarkable.

But that expansion has come at a cost.

KFC is dying because the product is crap and the staff couldn't care less about whether people actually enter their stores. Sorry, but we're far enough removed from Colonel Sanders's influence that their name recognition cannot save them. I used to like their crispy strips with cole slaw and baked beans back in the 1990's, but those days are long gone. Your over-greasy, fried hard, over-salted product just doesn't work for me.

This is quite alarming considering it's not that hard to par cook chicken, freeze, thaw, batter/season, fry. It's a common process in modern foodservice.

I stopped eating KFC a few years ago when I got tired of the quality of chicken, the attitude of the staff & the value going south.

My family stopped with KFC when they put sulfites in among the recipe as there is no reason to eat something that will now kill you or make you sick.

I gave up on KFC years ago. I decided to buy a deep fryer and experiment. Didn't take long and I had a recipe I really liked, so did all my chicken loving friends. . I would rather make my own, from scratch, these days. I know what's in it. It turns out crispy and juicy everytime, and I even created a gravy that is vastly superior to KFC stuff. Not bragging, it's true. I whip up a batch whenever I feel like it, and it's worth all the cleaning and oil disposal. It's my contribution to a home where we gather to watch the Super Bowl, I watch the game while I am cooking, and I love the smiles and the "This is awesome Chicken", Vinnie!" I've shared my recipe with others, and they get a hold of me and say "It is so much better than Fast food places!" I have not entered a KFC in a very long time now...it is inferior, greasy, lacks a decent crunchy batter, and tastes very strange to me. After watching this presentation, I am pleased with my decision to make my own.

Dude my local kfc in Vancouver Canada is disgustingly dirty. The place is old, churches, wendys, triple os(local joint) have all updated their interiors and exteriors. The kitchen in these places are clean and look new. Last time I went to kfc I took a peak in their kitchen through the drive through and damn is it dirty and horrid. That's not everything, the chicken sucks. The chicken is always soggy af. I wouldn't be surprised if they completely go out of existence.

I used to love their original taste/recipe chicken when I was a kid. Now, whenever I try to order them, they always say there are only spicy and non-spicy chicken available, and those two are tasteless at best.

Once, they called back to ask if I could wait 30 minutes for it to be cooked, of course I said yes. The next time I try to convince them that I can wait, just to get an answer that it's only possible when there are at least 9 pieces ordered, and since I ordered 6, they couldn't do. I quickly cancelled the order altogether and went for Jollibee until now.

Excellent video I thought I knew the whole story but
This was fascinating.
I grew up eating KFC and watched the quality drop and the price rise. My last bucket of chicken was many years ago it was soaked in grease and overcooked.

Super unhealthy food, higher prices, low quality, I'm not surprised... No one sane buys KFC here in Texas. If they want fried chicken, they usually go to Chick Fil A, Canes or a local restaurant.

I got KFC to go today and I must say it’s a no for me. I haven’t been in a very long time. They definitely don’t taste the same at all. The chicken, mash potatoes/gravy nor the biscuit was the same. My feelings were hurt. After my first bite, I was like wtf happen to KFC? I was trying to convince my child to eat it and once I tried it. I saw why she didn’t like it….damn KFC WHAT DID YOU DO?!?!

Wow! They screwed Col Sanders the same way Ray Croc screwed the McDonalds Brothers. Confirms my decision to stop eating at those places.

KFC used to be good. My local KFC's chicken is expensive and they serve a small piece of chicken. Don't see why I would buy KFC when popeyes are cheaper and taste better.
