Greetings Automotive Enthusiasts!

We head to a little Kansas town in the middle of nowhere and drive a presumably RARE Jag 2 hours home! What did we buy? Is this 1991 Jaguar XJS 2+2 Coupe a super RARE Factory Aero Sports option package or a standard Jag with an aftermarket body kit? HELP!

Looks like ivory white. Taking off the wiper blades takes 10k off the value. So choose carefully :)

The side skirts and front and back and Speedline alloys are all TWR type with some black rubber added. Exhaust tips say Jaguarsport but steering wheel is not.
But otherwise is a cooking
V12 5.3
I have a 1990 X😊JRS 6.0 and those cars had Jaguarsport kick plates and engine covers and Momo steerin
G wheel. And a boot spoiler.
Even so, starts well.

its not a TWR they changed in 1988 to be called Jaguar Sport . but still very clean, if it was a TWR they are very rare if they had the 6.0 Liter upgrade engine like less than 40 of them

I'm no Jaguar expert but a channel called Number 27 recently did a video on the XJS TWR - you might get some insight from that on what you have.

I think you can tell by the standard spare wheel & standard interior with no rear spoiler & the fact they only made them from 1984 to 1988 that it's not a Wilkinshaw but those wheels are worth a fortune.

Love Jags, I had one in France of all places, it doesn't have the typical Jag look but nevertheless, white or black imo are the only two colours to buy one in!

Bob, call Tim Willis in NW Wichita he probably knows if this was a factory option. I believe Tim is an authority on most things Jaguar and this production era. Tim was my Father’s full time mechanic and ran our classic car fleet. Dad ( Phil Ehrlich, Ehrlich Electric @ 9th and Mosley had several Jaguars over the years and Tim made them sing. Tim knows his way around the rare Jaguars that show up at the Monterey Historic ( Laguna Seca Raceway )

body kit looks or resembles TWR but IMO it's not an authentic TWR.

No TWR interior bits (stock steering wheel, no TWR embossment in seats, etc).
No TWR logos on the exterior; still has the classic collection badge.
No rear spoiler.

Nothing factory about the radio or amp. Oil pressure close to zero at idle is normal and nothing to be concerned about.

Still a cool car. Interest in the XJS seems to be on the rise. They drive really well and are solid cars. The refinement is similar to a Rolls or Bentley of the era. Much of the bad reputation is from American mechanics who didn't understand them. A jaguar specialist mechanic is a must.

Hi Bob, I'm a X owner of J95Rdu a 1991 press Jaguar Xjr-s which used the 6l motor with Zytek injection. I'm a blind car mechanic and I can tell from the sound that you have the facelift 91 6l car. It has the later starter motor with the reduction gear for starters. I also developed a fix for the Zytek distributor issues, as I found a Zytek Pdu which is the only way to adjust things such as timing correctly. I also found a way to repair the distributor falts which can aflict the Zytek equipped cars. You'll find the suspention should be firmer, and the gm400 will have a firmer shift. 50 coops and 50 convertables were sent to the US originally.

I even prefer TWR to Jaguar, and I really like Jaguar, except for the newer ones (ford ones and latter ones)
It is TWR for sure!

I think this one is a classic collection trim package (gold jaguar growler on the hood, classic collection bagde on the trunk, piping on the seats, and white gear selector) with a twr body kit and wheels. Theres a way to tell with the vin if it was given the TWR treatment

Can you tell us what the date code on the tires is? This vehicle will certainly need all fluids changed. It is a beautiful car though IMO. I wonder if the original dealer made a few of these one offs using aftermarket parts that were available at the time and added a generic Classic Collection badge from who knows where. Then put a special sticker on the window with all the upcharges and sold it. Kind of like the conversion vans they were selling back then. Today, we see this technique a lot today on trucks and Jeeps etc where lift kits, special wheels, roll bars are added by some company out there, the dealer buys them and adds in a big upcharge. Looking forward to what your research finds out.
