Life on Saturn's moon Enceladus and how some of its evidence to form life are similar to that of the initial Earth and how the liquid oceans of Enceladus can be considered as an initial evidence of life beyond Earth. Moreover scientists think that it’s not always planets that could harbour life, we can even think of life on some of the moons of gas giants like Jupiter and Saturn.
Join British Physicist Brian Cox as he discusses potential evidence on Enceladus. As he stated ‘this is an interesting moon in the context of life or potential life beyond Earth. We can see fountains of ice on Enceladus, rising up from the surface and disappearing off into space.’ In addition to that he adds ‘what we think causing those fountains are even more surprising and there are lakes of liquid water below the surface of Enceladus, and on the floors of those lakes, it’s thought to be some kind of Geological Systems or systems called Hydrothermal Vents’. Moreover he adds that ‘we think that one of the prime candidates for the origin of life on Earth which believed to initiated 3.8 Billion Years ago are Hydrothermal Vent System, where energy can be generated in the context with rocks and in context with minerals and that transition from Geochemistry to Biochemistry happened. ’ At the end he finishes with ‘this moon is the prime candidate to look for life beyond Earth in our Solar System’. Isn’t it fascinating to think that there could be life beyond Earth, not on planets, but on one of the moons of another planet?

When the sun swells at the end of its life cycle, would Enceladus be in the Goldilocks zone, and will the sun still produce enough heat?

Brian is one of few people who can teach people in a way in which we want to learn more. His delivery and style is perfect for teaching. I wish I had someone like Brian as my science teacher when I was in secondary school.

I have never met this man or educator, but, I have watch everything he has put out and also read his books, and every time I hear him; I learn something new. Just the way he says “we think”, is humble enough for me.

I was at his Horizon lecture in Derry. Was absolutely blown away, the way he speaks and connects with a crowd is a talent in itself. If you are interested in space and black holes it is a must!

I was at school 50+ years ago. Our Science Masters would punch and wallop us for no reason! Had any of my Science Masters' been half as interesting and informative as this bloke, I'd have paid attention and enjoyed it.

I’m gonna clip all of Brian Cox Videos lecturing about the galaxy and clip together about 10 hours worth so I can fall asleep listening to him.

Every time I see Brian's video I'll get some new information... today's one is : "Hydrothermal vent systems led to the life on earth."

Finally. A rational 'origin of life' explanation that actually makes sense to me.

I could listen to prof. Brian Cox speak about the cosmos all day. The lilt of his voice soothes my brain.

Important to hear him “We think” over and over instead of “we know” so incredibly intelligent and brilliant

Some people are privledged to know how most things work, it’s very rare Mr. Cox is one of them…. 😊

Okay, I thought he said there are “phantoms of ice rising up from the surface and disappearing off into space.” 😳 Had to replay. So relieved it is “fountains of ice.” 😂

fantastic delivery here, from geo-physical to bio-physical to formations of life on earth on the poetically beautiful Enceladus.

All of this beauty can't be created by coincidence

The fountains are in kilometres in height, imagine the pressure buildup below the ice surface and the thickness of those ice rocks to sustain that pressure
