LIVED ALONE FOR 20 YEARS | Abandoned Belgian House of Widower Mrs. Chantal Thérèse

Today I will take you to Belgium again. Secluded in a tiny street, near the French border, lies another abandoned house where the former residents seem to have evaporated with time. Once we make our way inside the house, we find numerous clear indications that it was once occupied by Mrs. Chantal Thérèse. Her personal memories, conjointly her Roman Catholic faith, are strongly echoed all over the house, and I believe if the walls could speak, many more echoes would be discernible. During multifold years of vacancy, four walls turn out to haven't been sufficient to withhold nature from creeping in, and neither have homeless people and spiders been retained from settling in for good measure.

If you're curious to gaze at what else I'll find in this desolate time capsule, be sure to keep watching as we will tour the past together and go on an investigative journey.

This one is sad because I also lost my husband 5 years ago and I live alone with 2 horses and 10 cats on a farm and I take care of all it myself. My 2 girls are to busy and have their own life's to come and visit. But this video shows reality as sad as it is. I would hate for squatters to come in my home and destroy it or anybody else who has bad intentions. I told my girls when ever it comes my time to make sure they go in and get whatever they want as soon as possible. Of course I have given a lot of my valuables to them already. I try not to accumulate anything. Less stuff to take care of and more time to do the things I enjoy! Luv u much! Another good video. Thanks to u both.

How sad I feel at the moment. Homeless people when staying in another person's home should and probably do know not to create such a mess. The house is abandoned true but it deserves respect. It shields then from the wind, rain, snow, and sun. Perhaps gave them a sense of security while they slept. Yet everything was treated with callous disrespect. This home was once loved. It houses some unique items. Thank you for showing it to us all. Be safe my friends and I'm waiting for the next adventure.

Hi Maureno from super team Explomo, I agree to you, that seeing these traces of trashing and messed up spots in that house is
actually not only horrible but also very sad. I nearly got tears only by watching. - So it was such a treat to see on the other hand
the time capsule like living room with some well preserved and nice furniture. - I also loved how highly respectful you were,
when approaching in your comment the life of the former inhabitants of this location. - Very well presented!! - I loved listening
to you once more. - I would even go so far as decribing your introduction as a very fine and outstanding example for highly
educated and extremely well formulated English. Lovely to listen! - I can sometimes learn too from your choice of words and
your beautiful formulations. - I hope to see you once again.
I am of course not so terribly well for very understandable reasons, but I am trying to push myself forward every day!
Stay safe, dear friend and bro and much love! - Wishing you all the best, peace and kindest regards to you and Remon.

Good wisdom, Maureno, about weighing ourselves down with material things. We accumulated for over thirty years as we raised our family. But we don't want to end like this poor woman. We've been scaling back to a tiny home with only what we really need and a few most precious mementos -- and giving the rest to our children, bit by bit. And, like you said, preparing for more world travel and collecting memories instead. These videos are fantastic reminders: you can't take it with you.

Maureno, I recently got off the phone talking to my friend who lived in France for 15 years, she said that there are many reasons the families do not return to the properties. She lived in a rural area, the elderly lady that lived 2 doors down in a large chateau. She said the minute she died the house went into probate and France has extremely strict inheritance laws. Children have automatic rights but distance relatives can claim the property BUT there is a 60% taxes on the estate to acquire the property. Most people refuse the inheritance because lets say the mansion and property were valued at 2, 000, 000 that means the person who claims it has to pay 1, 200, 000 to claim the inheritance. Usually most of the large properties are already in decline because the elderly there naturally can't keep up with the repairs and soon ignore them because of their state of mind. Most of their children have their own families and have moved away so there is usually 500, 000 worth of repairs at minute of the owners death but because of the time to claim and take possession of the property can be 3 to 7 years the property declines even more so the half a million goes to being a million and sometimes even more ONLY to repair the home. In that time of decay usually most of the valuables are destroyed due to the harsh elements leaving the property now costing the person who inherits is already in for 2, 200, 000 and then to do complete recovery and repair on the home is another 1, 500, 000 so now a 2, 000, 000 property is 3, 800, 000 and only worth 2, 000, 000 so it is not cost efficient or smart to save the mansions.

Usually the Palaces, mansions, etc are on very large pieces of property and the state will rent the land out to farmers and they take the profits to cover "existing taxes" but that is never reflected in the intermittence taxes so there is really no way for the family to recover the cost in saving the home. There are many many strict inheritance laws and being rural lawmen in the area know they can make money off of catching family entering the property because it is a means of lining their pockets saying the family was stealing the "family jewels" or destroying property leads to just more expenses to the family. Even with a will there is the 60% inheritance tax so no one usually has that much money to just jump in and save the property and by the time it all goes through the courts and the courts try to sell the property the home is in such decay it just does not sell. It cost farmers too much to raze the property and reclaim for farm land and most people don't have 4, 000, 000 laying around to take over the property.

As I read also many of these properties would be grand museums or destination locations for people to stay in BUT taxes cause it not to be profitable. Also most of these estates are very rural and far from the city and in this day and age people want to be where all the action is so staying 100 miles from a large city is not where they wish to go. Makes me wonder, do these city people (i personally call them Citidots- city idiots) even know what peace and quiet is? I mean kids play video games all day or in front of a screen of some sort do they even know what nature is other than watching a dog show on Animal Planet? Sad they have never sat on a large rock and looked out over a valley, or climbed a tree to see over a mountain range. They have never sat on a dock watching water lap for hours, seeing the fish jumping, frogs hopping by, Eagles catching large fish from the water, otters playing near the shore, beavers hauling branchs to their dams. They see jet skis and motorboats but not a canoe hearing the peace and quiet of birds singing and insects buzzing. OMG they have no idea what they are missing. It is horrid and sad knowing what the internet has done in destroying people living life to the fullest and knowing what is really out here in our history. I know watching this video shows me an amazing frozen in time location but I don't get to feel the dust, smell the decay (and poop) hear the sound of foot steps on the wood, creaking of the wind coming thru the windows and so much more. Do you think maybe technology has destroyed so many people's minds? lol I just talked myself into it hahaha.

I have another friend who was a nanny in rural France back in the 90s, I am going to call her this week and see what she knows about these properties. I also have a person I know who was being held as a sex slave in a gorgeous old chateau there in rural France, he escaped nearly 2 years ago but he lived in a 300 year old property that he was restoring room by room since he was not allowed to leave the property or be seen. I do know that in the last 2 years the guy who held him has passed and now that property is in probate with no family claiming it and my friend said they wanted over 3, 000, 000 for it but couldn't take possession for 5 years because they had to make sure no family claimed it so it means that house would sit in decay too OMG I am starting to see the pattern here....

Okay I am done babbling and need to get up and take care of some things. My 17 year old cat broke his femur and had a screw put in. He is doing really well so far. I just couldn't put him down. I lost my son last year and he is my family for now, my heart has been broken so much and I have to prepare it to be broken again but he has too much life in him to snuff it out.

Love you, stay safe <3 tal

I was saddened by this explore, up the stairs I got the impression that these were possibly children's rooms and the Master bedroom. I try to understand the minds of those who feel they must trash homes that are empty. The one room that was tidy with the look that the owner had just left, I believe someone, maybe an other explorer, took time to move all the scattered belongings to other rooms. To give one room to honor the family that lived there and the Woman who was alone so long.
That is how my home would end up, if I were to just die, I do not believe my children would bother to come and take anything, they do not visit while I am alive so why would they come when I am no longer here. Sad thought but I think an honest one.
Thank you for continuing to bring us, the good, the bad and the ugly of your explores.

This happens to many people who live alone and are suffering from depression. They become hoarders...afraid to let go and surround themselves with things. Usually poor health follows.

Hola Maureno!!

I can't believe the kid's didn't take anything! No pictures, no antiques, not even the car's! Each time I see one of your videos I'm reminded that I need to empty my house of almost everything, except the necessities & photo's for memories, as I get older & less nimble. You're work & attitude is so professional & classy. I have never been disappointed in any of your videos for two years now! Much love to you & Remon. 👍❤️

A rather poignent sentimental and very respectful video. Thankyou for these insights you give. Many people are overly obsessed with possessions however the only thing you will ever truly own is yourself.
