Might add it to my "Must have" list for Windows!
Alongside the following:
- TaskbarX (haven't made the move to Win11 yet)
- WinDynamicDesktop for dynamic Wallpaper based on time
- QuickLook to preview some document types with ease
- ModernFlyouts for better/nicer Volume/Brightness Up/Down and media control tooltips
- TaskbarGroups to group my applications in the Windows taskbar much like on macOS
- PowerToys which should definitely be native to Windows
- Chocolatey as package manager

It took Apple years multiple macOS releases to get tagging right in Finder. It was a complete basket case in the beginning but now works fantastic. Would be very impressed if a few open source guys could implement it as well.

So glad to see this, I was using Files for a long time and loved it, but I had found in in the MS Store. After several fresh installs I went to reinstall and found it was $10. If I were in a position to support developer I would, but $ is tight

Am I missing something? Files is much slower to navigate, each time it has significant delay when entering or leaving the folder, how is no one mentioning this? It's clearly a deal breaker isn't it?

I can't believe how much better this is compared to the regular files explorer, Thanks for sharing this.

Papermerge seems worthy of your evaluation as a docker app on truenas working with a windows daily driver environment. And, couldn't agree more that the potential for using tags in the "files" file explorer app is a major wishlist capability which I hope matures soon. Thanks for videos.

I wish Microsoft would add more APIs to replace core functions. Like add an API for file manager, the task bar, the start menu, onscreen keyboard, etc. This will allow power users to really customize their computers and they will be more stable than the hackey way this tools are often built to overcome the lack of an API.

I absolutely love this app, as a windows 10 user whos planning to upgrade to 11 it gives me a peek of how it works, it also has many more functions and is much cleaner in design!

OneCommander is my favorite File Manager: Has a cleaner list detail, can put files and folders labels colors, show files size, manage 1 or 2 path (switch between horizontal or vertical layouts) tabs, preview settings, background folder covers, costumization, search feature, etc.

Tried this for a week, customised it and actually liked it however its resource heavy and not as snappy as the other ive tried. I use XYPlorer. Hovers around 8-10mb memory usage while files is easily 120mb+

Looks nice but I favor functionality over design (when I can't have both).
Total Commander remains my power tool for efficient and fast file management (batch rename, archiving, search, preview).
Bought the license to thank Ghisler for the hundreds of hours saved during huge batch file renames.
My freeware loving clients get FreeCommander XE.

At least Windows Explorer has tabs now, but yeah we need all the other features.

Would love an open source file manager that comes at least close to Directory Opus or the other option would be going back to Linux...
