i really appreciate how informative and honest she was. i respect that as well as the attitude she had the entire time. she always gave credit to the people behind the scenes and was very humble.

"Let's say I had 1, 000 yen superchat."
One random guy in chat: *proceeds to donate 1k yen

That was actually super informative. I haven't seen much of her content but I have seen a few clips of her music and was blown away. It's a shame about the earnings though, it seems livable but she should be getting much more of a percentage. I'm guessing it wouldn't be any easier trying to make it as a solo VTuber though without any company backing. Thanks for the translation!

small correction, she says 「90人100人ぐらいいるんじゃないかな」at 5:16, so there are about 90-100 people working at nijisanji, not 200.

thanks for translating this, it was really informative!

I'm surprised by the amount of people who aren't aware of the YPP 30% revenue split. It's something that regular YouTubers have been complaining about for years, even before the adpocalypse. As a side note, it also costs a pretty penny to run a video hosting site and no startup company could ever hope to create a competing platform without the backing of a huge company. It's probably why YouTube takes that much from creators, although 30% is still pretty insane.

So YT (Google) takes 30% and their website doesn't work properly. Nice

To be honest, I didn't think "it would be high", but I heard what I wanted to hear and that is "it should be fair."
Seriously though, Administrative work is my most horrible suite. I'd love it if a company can do that for me.

It seems like they don't get that much money at all which makes me a bit sad, but they seem to be able to take care of themselves so I guess it's ok

Thank you for subbing this! I knew about the youtube getting a 30% cut but the others are very informative. This is definitely a good eye opener for me and my friends too

So that's why some of them work part time jobs

I thought they'd be drowning in weeb money, it's a bit sad actually.

thats for every artist in the world. not only from entertainment industry. from where i worked before, an author who sells a book only receives 10%(if lucky) on the sells net. so if the book cost like 10$, with all the cut from the company, the author earn around 0.50-0.80$ per book which is why author are sometimes teacher as well.
i got some cases where an author only got 1% of what she wrote of a 500pages book.

I think most people know about the 30% youtube split but i'm curious about the rest 3:51 i have read reddit a few times where it says its either 50/20 % split or 30/40 % split the first one kinda scares me that would mean Niji Vtubers only make 20% through Superchats? 20 to 40 % is a big difference i mostly want to know about the Superchats but there is way more to consider here i heard they do get a fixed amount monthly just hope its enough to get by it also seems to vary from person to person that work in Niji..

Youtube - 30%
Nijisanji - 50% to 30%
Vtuber - 20% to 40%

I work in the hotel industry, because of this, I have seen a lot of the behind the scenes work involved in major productions like concerts, sports events, and the like.

Lets take for example a singer. Your average concert you may see the singer on stage, and not realize that there are another 50-200 people working for that concert as well. Sound crew, visuals/special effects crew, lights crew, there are many people behind each and every production.

For V-Tubers as well, there are animators who create the avatars, writers, voice actors (who we immediately think of and recognize), merch producers, etc, etc, etc. Without the Animators in particular, most of us wouldn't know who many of these V-tubers are now.

Interesting video! The part about the Music is especially insightful, I wonder how it works for the vtubers who does a lot of music like HimeHina or even Kizuna Ai a while ago. What I'm curious about tho is how vtuber earnings compare to anime voice actors. Instead of saying "I want to be a voice actor", is it possible that the next generation will say "I want to be a vtuber"? 🤔
