Viz Media is creating original "anime style" adult animated series for Netflix with Powerhouse Animation (Castlevania, Masters of the Universe). Is this a sneak peek at what to expect from Kevin Smith's He-Man reboot? Are they gearing up for an all out war on Funimation by joining forces with Crunchyroll?

Just because it's animated doesn't make it anime. Anime is a series of tropes and art style.

What makes something true anime requires it to have been concepted and produced in Japan as oppsed to anime inspired like the new Thundercats. A show like Voltron is localized dub but still anime.
This was actually figured out back in the late 80s, early 90's when I was training as an animator.
