A van driver's video showing the two-second trick being used by thieves to break into brand new Ford Transits has been viewed more than two MILLION times. Alan Hills, 26, recorded himself forcing the main lock after having £650 worth of power tools pinched from his work van. He's one of the latest to fall victim to the simple technique and has since heard of hundreds of other drivers who have been targeted in the same way.

He didn't tell the whole story of his life before saying how to do it like 90% of people in YouTube.

I'm impressed of how many time of my life this guy just saved me!!

As an ex locksmith..I can tell you Ford's are the easiest to steal..I once made a key from cardboard that started a 2000 Ford van

I've been steeling van's for ages and this tip is a game changer for me. A heart-felt thank you. 👍

When I was a Police Officer in Southend, Essex in the 80's and 90's, people were often shutting their keys in their cars. We had a collection of found keys at the station that we would use to help out. With a Ford, you never needed to try too many before it opened.

this is absolutely disgraceful that companies make car that can be broken in to so easy - this should be regulated for a minimum safety and anti theft standards

I feel this video has aided more van thieves than van owners 🤦🏻

I always used a crowbar, but this looks like a much cleaner way to do it, thanks for the tip. Also, could you please add the pliers size and brand to the video description? Would be a bummer if I came to the hardware store and stole the wrong ones. Thanks!

This is how someone broke into my Ford Explorer back in 1998. I see they still haven’t fixed the problem.

on a 17 plate?!?! wow... on the Top Gear man with a van challenge in 2006 (series 8) Jeremy Clarkson's 1992 K-reg Transit was by far of the easiest of the three vans to break into, but you'd have thought after 25 years they would have made the product more secure.

Thanks, I was facing some issue with the second twist action. This was really helpful.

And old mate who electrified his doors is the “bad guy”!! Should be more of it I say! That’ll soon stop anyone thinking of breaking into vans!

The only way to improve your security is to first know your weak points. It's disconcerting to think that Ford hasn't taken any steps toward that end. And leaves the weak points intact for exploitation by thieves. Any lock will keep honest people honest. But we need locks that will at least make it difficult for the dishonest.

How are manufacturers allowed to sell such shoddy security on a vehicle that is obviously designed to carry valuable materials and tools. Surely it’s in their interests to offer their primary customers a decent system. Pathetic Ford, and probably many of their competitors.

What’s disgraceful is people stealing

We should be able to leave everything unlocked

I sleep in my Transit. So, if this ever happened, I'd show them a 2 second trick up 15 times in a row.
