An Alabama school has introduced a bulletproof classroom to better protect students and teachers in the case of an active shooter emergency.

Cullman City Schools’ West Elementary in Alabama has installed Rapid-Deploy Safe Room Systems in two of its classrooms according to Unilad.

KT Security Solutions came up with the design in response to the deadly mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas last year. Nineteen students and two teachers died, while seventeen others were injured.

The design incorporates a fold-out room that extends from a whiteboard featuring bulletproof walls. One door is locked from the inside and only unlocked with a key.

The safe room can be pulled out and assembled within 10 seconds.

As someone who does not live in America that is literally the saddest thing I have ever seen

Ok but what if the shooter folds the wall in with everyone inside💀

It hurts my heart to see how far our society has left Virtue behind -- that a school would even need this. Heal our society; return to virtue.

Not to be a downer, but what happens when the shooter drags a table or something up to the wall, stands on the table, pops a couple ceiling tiles, and now has a birds eye view of his prey? I guess no solution is perfect, but I would hope that where the walls sit while deployed the ceiling cavity above is also fortified.

This is the perfect example of attacking the problems at the top and not the root cause. SMH

If you mix fuel metal oxide and metal powder in the right way it burns at 2000 degrees Celsius enough to cut through any barrier known to man throw some c4 into the mix and you got your self a jack of a combination

How is this not going viral considering what just happened in Nashville, Smart Idea

Forgive my concern but she said “teacher or administrator” could close the door. Most schools are overcrowded. There were two chairs in there with barely enough standing room for 10 people. How are they going to choose who can enter the safe room? Or is it just for teachers and administrators?

What if the shooters in your class? What if it gets stuck? 🤔

My one problem with this is, it would only work in schools that have solid roofs inside the classroom, and most of the schools that I went to had panel roofs. The shooter can just climb up desks that he stacked up against the safety room and climb through the ceiling.

The "safe room" has the same drop ceiling over top of it as the rest of the classroom. A popped tile gives ample space to go up and over.

Its safe, cuz the ceilings are sheets of cardboards that can be taken away and the shooter can just shoot everyone inside with a pistol from the ceiling hole.

Notice the drop ceiling? Panels can be moved by hand and have no barriers to prevent humans, or bullets from penetrating the tiles on the other side.

Any one can stand on a table and take those sections out of the ceiling. The room may be bullet proof but the ceiling is not and any shooter can go through the ceiling. So, If you're gonna have something like that, I suggest figuring out how to bulletproof the ceiling over the bullet proof room. It's that easy you also easy for anyone to remove the ceiling panels and start shooting. I can't believe the dumbness of this. You have to understand the mind of a killer.

I deal in risk analysis...The risk with this bullet proof room is that it is no bullet proof. These an access point of around 3 feet to get into it, just as easily as the demonstration of unfolding it. Can anyone guess what it is?

Not feasible. That would likely cost anywhere from 10k-20k per classroom! X50 classrooms = 500k-1 million dollars per school! Cities typically have 20-50 schools. That’s 50 million dollars per city. For something that’s getting zero-to-no use, MAYBE ONCE every 10 years. (Some never)

Get rid of that drop ceiling, the shooter can go right over top of it.. that would only be 100% safe with a normal ceiling. Let's keep our kids safe.

1 flaw in design, the rooftiles could be pushed aside and stand on desk to shoot over the board, it would be better to have a bulletproof classroom door (and cheaper)

I live here in Cullman. They also are protected from tornadoes. That’s a bigger thing here in Alabama
