Instead of plywood, I upgraded my horrible tiled backslash with simple foam board cut perfectly to size. I covered it in bold wallpaper and attached it to the wall with two sided velcro command strips. The fake wall also hides the wires for the undershelf lighting (yes I used a wireless light switch - love those!). Because foam board is light, command strips hold it incredibly well!

The use of tension rods is GENIUS! I don't often see a fix I would never have thought of, but that is IT! Great job!

This is the most incredible makeover I've seen in a very long time. The way you brought this from a bland and plain tiny kitchen to the very high end looking space is just beyond impressive. This is fantastic. GREAT, GREAT, JOB.

Finally somebody did a more realistic video on how to “remodel a rental”❤ I loved how the plywood idea gave you the liberty to hammer into it, everything you wanted (without touching the rented property). The other idea I LOVED was the trash bins under the sink…PHENOMENAL!!!! THANK YOU…you are a genius 🤗❤️

It is not easy to do makeover for a rental space, but this is brilliant! And so much smart storage added to such a tiny space. Love it!

The Plywood wall is really genius and such a samrt idea for customizing a rental space bc it gives you so many options to design and attach things to it.

Any smart and reasonable Landlord would ask for those changes to remain if your friend leaves the Apartment. It has made the place look so so much better than before. I'm sure they would get a higher rental for it. I loved the drying rack and also the metal frame you put on the back wall. Such simple changes but also beautiful and functional.

I really missed your small space temporary MacGyver projects. I own my home but I get bored easily so I love these "rental" projects ideas.

Beautiful! The black tile was a good decision on all the walls. The drying rack was G.E.N.I.U.S.

OH. MY. GOSH! You are amazing! You truly are a MacGyver! I loved so much about your video (so much that I subscribed and chose ALL for notifications--I loved how you described the various shortcomings of the space and what your solutions were to resolving them. I especially loved the wonderful filming that truly showed HOW you did what you did. I know you mentioned several times that these solutions resolve how to customize RENTAL spaces without permanently affecting the property, like how NOT to drill into existing walls but to use plywood "new" walls instead. My husband of 51 years passed away and there are things in my home I would like to alter to make them more usable for me. BUT...my husband did all those things and I don't know how. I'm absolutely terrified of trying for fear of damaging existing walls, cupboards, etc. I'm not a renter, but this is my home and if I screw up something I could cause permanent damage. YOU are showing others like me to try alterations YOUR way--your way doesn't damage existing structures, so if we get it wrong, we just take down the "non-fix" and start again--no worry about destroying our home. That is such a "freeing" feeling! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

This renovation was EXCELLENT! It inspires the aspiring diyer to make their space what they imagine it to be. This video truly aligned with the title of your channel and what you provide as a content creator! Thank you and I can’t wait for the next project.

Tile on both sides was definitely the way to go! Also love the black / wood contrast. Had you planned that from the start you could have done the bottom half black and top half wood so it doesn't change the look in the middle of the window.
Your unique ways to make rentals feel unique and personal are amazing. Your apartment deck transformation from a while back continues to be my favorite of your transformations!

I really enjoyed seeing you’re vision executed so perfectly. It came out beautiful. It actually appears bigger than before, which is odd, being that you went from white to black! I love it

What a realistic tiny rental kitchen makeover. Genius use of space over the sink with your MacGyver dish drainer. Putting the contact paper on the small fridge makes a real difference.

I love this! I see so many "renter friendly" makeovers that I know will lose them their security deposit with water damage and the wrong types of adhesives. The plywood is genius!
