Why do stars twinkle?

I know a lot of you have been out on a really hot day because we are learners and adventurers!
A very hot day like your ice cream just melts in your hand.
Now if you look across the road or even in the horizon, something strange is happening. You may notice the scene is a bit blurry.
This strange-looking phenomenon is actually similar to what is happening when we see stars twinkle in the night sky.

Wow! really? how come? well let's dive in and find out!
Every time we look up in the night sky, we don’t just look straight into space.
It is actually the thick air that we are looking at which is often invisible before reaching space and this is called the atmosphere.

I know you're familiar with it. It contains the air we breathe in and out, and it also contains a lot of gases that are essential to life but we just don't see it.
