My PS5 is Dying

Been having issues connecting to the internet

Started with Rebirth where it would make me verify or the game would shut down

Noticed it in Diablo IV - Super laggy all the time and would only fix if I restarted the console

Downloads disconnect the internet

Now on CoD I get insane packet Burts and frame drops

Tried everything and it looks like the wifi chip is just dead

Huge Layoffs at Bungie, but a New 1st Party Studio Forms…

Bungie is laying off 220 employees and moving others to PlayStation - The Verge

Parsons wrote that 220 roles would be eliminated, representing 17 percent of the company’s workforce.

Bungie was working to integrate another 155 employees into other departments within Sony Interactive Entertainment. These numbers, combined with the 100 people laid off in October of last year, mean that Bungie has lost roughly 40 percent of its total workforce in the last 12 months.

“We are working with PlayStation Studios leadership to spin out one of our incubation projects – an action game set in a brand-new science-fantasy universe – to form a new studio within PlayStation Studios to continue its promising development,”

Parsons offered an explanation for all the news, stating that Bungie grew too quickly and spread its leadership team too thin among its many projects. This had a knock-on effect on the studio’s known projects, resulting in what Parsons called a “quality miss” with Destiny 2’s Lightfall expansion and the delay of its next game, Marathon.

“We were overly ambitious, our financial safety margins were subsequently exceeded, and we began running in the red,” he wrote.

Until Dawn PS5 / PC Release Date Imminent

Until Dawn PS5 and PC release date announcement is likely coming soon as the game has been rated by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB). The enhanced version of Supermassive Games’ 2014 sleeper hit was previously confirmed for fall 2024, but an exact release date wasn’t announced as fans expected at May 2024’s State of Play.

The ESRB rating in question was spotted by X user Wario64, and doesn’t mention anything that we don’t already know. Release dates announcements typically follow rating board approvals, so we’re assuming that we’ll hear something in September.

Sony has another console exclusive horror game lined up for fall 2024 in Silent Hill 2’s remake, which will be out on October 8 for the PS5 and PC. We won’t be surprised if Until Dawn gets a late October release date to coincide with Halloween, but this is just an educated guess since horror games tend to target that time of the year.

I have a launch ps5 and have never had any issues with it. Still runs like a champ! I never use WiFi. Always had Ethernet cable. Thought the WiFi sucked from day one

Sounds like the wifi in the ps5 is dying, not the cpu/gpu. Never heard of that issue with them before, that sucks. But let's be real, your ps5 isn't "dying".

The same thing happens with my Android TV, it would connect to the wifi but had no actual internet, I hardwired it and was able to update the software and that fixed the problem….that being said, Run a piece of Cat 5e cable with RJ45 ends on it from your PS5 to your wireless router, you get faster upload and download speeds.

My launch ps5 turns off when it gets too hot and dusty on any game. So I do preventative maintenance by air dusting the system out once every month or so while keeping the playstation laid flat during operation because when its standing it will overheat more often. Also in case you didn't know this PSReady, the launch ps5 had issues with most units on Wifi since launch. This knowledge helped me immensely knowing that it wasn't my internet and I hard wired my PS5 with no issue since then. Hope this helps anyone having issues! Go Playstation! I subbed.

My Launch PS5 was doing that when I received it. Tried fixes for a month to fix it, nothing worked so luckily I was well in my warranty and swapped it through mail

as for the ps5, if you have it, virtual standing up sounds like the liquid metal. You can take it to a good repair shop to redo the liquid metal and hope it hasn't spread out to the motherboard

Yes I also play cod and I have the same similar problems with laggy play . It’s not a fix all but it’s helps . Restore your licenses . In rest mode twice a week clear you catch and rebuild your database .

Mine started doing that for final fantasy 16 it got really hot. I kept it clean as well no it lives horizontally instead of vertically and does fine it's ok enough for helldiver's with no lag

If u have to replace wifi card with new one, it will cost you. If you someone else fix it for you there is service cost. There is no free options unless wifi card is reparable and you can do it on your own.

If you can't get it fixed for free and you can't or don't wanna run Ethernet cabling throughout the house, i use what's called Powerline ethernet. They plug into your outlets and use your house wiring to send the internet. They work awesome, exactly like running the actual cables. You use one at your modem and one behind your ps5/devices and sync them up

I never had the internet issue. I stopped using wifi on consoles a long time ago. I noticed my stuff always ran better with wired connections. I never got a license issue either.

the issue you state for your system dying at the start is someone has your primary and if it was at the first few months of this year it was an error in the network that they fixed slow down is main account is reading every accounts games on system like its trying to check all the games belong to you. if you clear cache it will fix slow down for a month or until another account logs in again on it

I have a ps4 pro that does the same thing, I've had to replace the hdd once but other than needing a hard restart every few hours it still goes strong, my kids still use it to this day.
I should not that my hdd went out right about the point of me getting the message u were getting. I tired reinstalling the os and everything but no internet. After alot of looking online i thought it may of been the hdd and it was.. well mostly, like i said i still gotta restart it every few hours

A- check that it's not the wifi chip in your system, which is repairable
B- run an ethernet cable like a smart person, wifi is and always be inferior to ethernet
