Boxer Lin Yu-ting named anti-bullying ambassador｜Taiwan News

The Ministry of Education has named Taiwan boxer Lin Yu-ting an anti-bullying ambassador. The athlete is fresh from a gold medal finish at the Paris Olympics, where she was at the center of an online harassment campaign regarding her gender. Lin says she will use her experiences to educate people about bullying.

Lin Yu-ting’s journey to gold at the Paris Olympics was fraught with challenges, as critics accused her of not being eligible to compete in women’s sports. The offenders included the International Boxing Association and British author J. K. Rowling, who made denigrating comments about Lin. Now that those days are past, Lin thanked all the supporters who stood up for her.

I had to face so much in Paris. Knowing that I had so many people in Taiwan supporting me I was able to persist until the very end.

Lin proved her strength to the world through her performance at the competition, marching forward to realize her dreams. As an anti-bullying ambassador, she accepted a public service certificate from Education Minister Cheng Ying-yao.
