In some Native American cultures, if you were bisexual, you were not only accepted, but seen as one of the wiser members because you could see the best of both men and women.

I was reading a fantastic book of essays on early American gender and sexuality (the book is Long Before Stonewall btw) where one essay describes the general attitude in the 17th and 18th century among European colonists in America toward homosexuality & bisexuality as essentially "rich men have easily overlooked quirks, rich women have Dear Friends, poor men are criminals, and poor women are hysterical". Not the exact quote, as I don't have the book with me at the moment, but the concept of it resonated so intensely with me.

Thanks, it's a lesson I was never taught in school or even discussed in other areas of society, like church, or clubs. Seeing LGBTQ+ people as PEOPLE and as normal is easier with honest discussion, safe outings, positive laws (it's a hate crime if the motive was someone's sexuality ), and people speaking out. This channel can change a lot of people's thinking, if they let it. Be well !!! BTW: is it difficult to talksofasttoget it all in? lol

Don't be too down because some of these gay relationships were really pure and wholesome. Just look up the Chinese emperor and the cut sleeve.

You should check out ancient Indian societies; it was much more diverse and sexually expressive than most societies. Also, whenever I see such videos (not just you), it’s always a Eurocentric narrative and rest of the world is conveniently forgotten and/or ignored. No hate to you though, I love your videos, and just wanted to say this because it kinda bothered me. PLEASE DONT THINK OF IT AS A HATE COMMENT! LOVE YOU!!💖💖

No, this is misleading cherry picked history. Nobody in those cultures viewed straight/bi/gay sex as an orientation or identity, but rather a behavior. Sex wasn't about love at all. It was about subduing whoever was smaller and weaker than you. Children, women, and smaller males were all vulnerable to being penetrated by force. Marriage was purely pragmatic to produce more generations (preferably males because all females were seen as inferior). Around 2000 years ago, religious groups started to advocate for lifestyles that opposed those cultural values of forced sexual dominance over one another. It was honestly one of the first major social waves in the world for equal treatment towards women.

That‘s basically not true. At least not for japan.

Only acceptable for cis men as opposed to...? I doubt that anyone knew of transsexualism in ancient history.
Why does there have to be a cis anyway? Why is there suddenly the need for someone who hasn't transitioned from ♂ ➡ ♀ or ♀ ➡ ♂ to clarify that?
