Would really love to see Dr. Grande do a vignette or explanation on covert narcissism... much more dangerous in my opinion and sometimes very misunderstood and it's not particularly discussed much in the DSM.

In spite of her apparent toxic personality he still keeps her dignity and does not challenge her delusional grandiosity. He is very kind to her, actually. As a hypersensitive covert narcissist I must appreciate this careful approach. Any other approach had left me leaving my new therapist by third session at best.

Women like this actually do exist in the workplace. I've seen teams fall apart because of their exaggerated self-importance. 🤨
Humility, coming along side of someone & being relatable is genuine superiority. Who cares about being right. Being relatable with others is exhibiting real character.

Please just continue with these types of videos. They are super interisting and very informative.

Is it really as obvious as _that_ in a lot of cases?! Would be interesting to see something similar for a more covert narcissist.

This is waaay to obvious, it isn't always in your face like this. Covert narcissism is a lot harder to decipher. I know it took me 10 years to finally figure out the one I was dealing with, and that was with regular interactions. It could take his therapist a lot longer to figure it out. It would be nice to see a more complex narcissistic case demonstrated.

That plant was so narcissistic it might as well have been a daffodil. I could barely concentrate on the interview with it trying to be the center of attention.

Well done, I'm surprised she didn't suggest that her boss was crazy and her coworkers were crazy.

Thumb nail Immediately made me think of between two ferns with Zach Galifianakis. ❤️

I'm trying to imagine the reaction of the patient if the therapist suggested that the patient was a narcissist. The patient would explode with rage and completely reject the therapist as useless and a complete fraud. No amount of counselling would make the slightest dent in helping the patient. It would be like explaining the colours of the rainbow to a lifelong blind person.

The actress that played the narcissist was really good I thought.

"I just need to learn how to dumb things down enough that the rest of you can understand." I have that same problem.

It's so difficult to not lough in her face listening to her.

I've know a few people like this, had no idea it could have been NPD. Just thought they had way more self-esteem than I had.

This is really weird for me to watch. I have a friend who is just like this. Talking to her is just like this (except I'm not asking the questions, she's actually just saying all this stuff unprompted). Unreal

Just as there are true narcissists that have no problems telling you they are better than others or as she stated on another level, there are insecure people that are so insecure and jealous of accomplished, talented and beautiful people they actually bully the person they are jealous of. Is there a psychiatric term for people who are envious of other people to the point of bullying them?

Narcissistic personality dx is SO difficult to treat since there is little introspection and self awareness

good video. you seem like you could interact with a narcissist in a talk therapy session very well. the most important thing will be to identify the skill/attribute from which the narcissist derives their transient sense of self worth and to not infringe upon that.

Wow I feel so familiar with this scenario it's weird! I feel like I've talked to so many people like her, I can't help it but to feel empathy and sadness, It's scary how familirized I'm to this
