I literally went out to get my first prescription glasses almost a year ago when the doctor told me "You have astigmatism" I was just nodding and didn't have any clue what that meant. LOL

Realised I have astigmatism while driving at night. I couldn't see as better as before and the change came quite fast. Now I've got glasses, and lucky me no other issues! ❤

Hope you're still following this one, here's a pickle: I had lazik on both eyes 10+ yrs ago. The doctor set me up with one eye (R) set to focus at distance because I ride a motorcycle, the other eye for close up work like a computer screen. It sounded fishy but it seemed to work as he said. It worked great for years but now I'm noticing a slight bit of double vision whether I'm at my desk or driving. Night driving is the worst, I have to close my left eye to focus on the road. What gives with this? I should probably mention I'm 70 and a lot more active than my peers. Is this age related or did I break something that can't be fixed?

I went to the eye doctor a while back to try contacts for the first time as my vision has gotten slightly worse as I've gotten older and so I have a number of questions that may be good topics for you.

1: Why does our vision degrade over time and what may contribute to that? For me specifically I've noticed that I have become more near sighted with it becoming harder to read signs at a distance or distinguish people's faces.

2: My doctor told me that I have pigment dispersion syndrome (I think that's what it's called) which involves the pigment of my eye falling loose and risks the ducts in my eyes being plugged up. Least that's my understanding. Could you better explain this, what to look out for, and best advice to avoid making it worse?

3: I often sneeze a lot when the sun is in my eyes. My mom has always had the same problem, but most people I ask say they've never had this experience. From my understanding it's rare but perfectly normal. Do you have any insight on this?

4: I tried contacts, but the first pair felt too thick and we're really uncomfortable on my eyes. The second pair made it feel like tears we're welling up all the time with a sort of weight to the underside of my eye. I gave up before trying a third pair. Is it common to have complications with contacts? Do they just not work for some people? Or is it just a matter of adjusting to the discomfort?

Hopefully this gives you some good ideas for future videos. I'd love to see what you have to say on these topics! Thank you!

Hi doc I'm a bit confused.
Recently I went to a new optician and I was told that I had astigmatism. I didn't quite understand because I thought that meant you see blurry at all distances, but I see wonderfully at all distances. I can see up close clearly, and a pretty decent distance away according to the test so I don't get it. Was it a misdiagnosis?

Can you discuss what it means to have sensitive eyes, please? My optometrist says the whites of my eyes are always red because my eyes are sensitive but I'd like to know more in depth of what it means. The only time they ever are white are if I use eye drops, but I am not a big fan of them so I rarely do so.

Thanks for the video. It was helpful. I never had it but a week ago, I was diagnosed with it in one eye. I was worried that, if it disappeared, my new glasses which correct it among other things like my myopia, would not work anymore. Don't know...

SUBSCRIBED! I only started wearing low (1.25/1.25-1.25/1.50) prescription glasses a few months ago at 29… MAN ALIVE, I just thought that SQUINTING were the norm/my eyesight went so gradually that I forgot what TRUE sight were.
Just picked up a new pair of glasses today:)
Just stoked on being able to see; thank you for doing what you do.
Literally giving people sight…

Thank you for this! This helps so much as my optimism never actually explained what it was to me. I was wondering if you have any advice for contact lenses? I actually had a contact test and they said I was allowed them . They put them in my eyes for me but made me take them out myself. I have one eye with an astigmatism so the contact was thicker so it was easy to take out but the other eyes contact was much thinner and a different shape so I found it super hard to get out. Due to this I actually experienced my first ever panic attack, I haven’t had one since. I’m sure it’s just me but I’d love to try contacts because my glasses irritate me because they always get so dirty and they start turning wonky? Like if you put them down they’ll wobble because the arms aren’t at the same angle but this has happened every time I’ve had new glasses so I think I just have an uneven head or ears. The arms also tend to losen quite a lot. But I’d love to get contacts so any advice on either my glasses or contacts would be great 😁
Edit: another thing is when reading with my eye with an astigmatism, with my good eye closed, everything starts to blacken? I am short sighted in this eye which may be why but I can’t read in this eye from any distance unless the writing is big. Is this darkening something to be concerned about?

Ive never had any vision or eye problems but i sometimes think about seeing an eye doctor just because Ive never seen an eye doctor or gotten an exam. Im worried if i see an eye doctor then he would think im wasting his time since i have no vision issues. Is it recommended for someone with good vision to still see a doctor or should you go only if you have vision problems?

Can you make a video about lazy eyes? Or amblyopia? I’ve had it for a couple years.
