I find the pacing in the movie off putting, action action action. Even when characters talk it's often over the top dialouge, screaming at the top of their lungs or they're talking about their past which isn't how people ineract in real life. These scenes last a few minutes then people start fighting again, one hour into the movie at some point you lose track of what's happening, who am I suppose to care about, are these characters even believable. In the past movies Jack was done like a cartoon but at the beginning when he is abandoned by his crew he looked like some loser and that bled over to all of the other characters.

We've got a bunch of giggling drunks everywhere and two youngsters who barely can act and that we don't care about. If I saw all the other movies today I would probably be saying something similar, but those movies had very strong villains. The octopus guy, barbossa, black beard all of those villains had depth to them and their interactions with Jack Sparrow were always entertaining. How much does Jack talk to captain Salazar, I don't remember any serious dialouge between them. The only thing that you remember is the conversation they had at the beach but even that conversation didn't have a straight man, they both tried to be funny, maybe unintentonally. "I'll be waiting, for you."

Would the octopus be saying that, would black beard be saying that, I think the villain in this movie is weaker than the other movies in the genre. The young couple nobody cared about either, I get that they wanted those two to act as will and elizabeth and jack's the comedy element but they're not great actors, if they had a romantic relationship it definitely didn't come across on screen. Maybe their interactions were drowned out by all the action. One of the worst in the series.

For the next pirates movie I suggest introducing a character like popeye the sailor, some bald headed character with an attitude that is just as charismatic as Jack Sparrow. And then a really grumpy villain that can be the straight man for Jack and popeye, I don't know if romance is necesarry but I'm sure someone can figure something out.

Please!!
Don't ever touch another POTC movie because you guys totally butchered this movie along with that crap Jeff Nathanson script writer that gave no logical respect to the previous films storylines. Stay with your European films..
