100%. Ue5 is stutterfest. Hundreds of features yet fails at its most important thing: smooth frames

the fact that cdpr is dropping the RED engine is so, SO heartbreaking, Witcher 3 was probably one of the most beautiful games I've ever played, and it ran so incredibly well on my at the time budget PC. proprietary engines always seem to be so much better at showcasing new tech, and just generally running better, and as large as cdpr is now, turning their back on their own in-house engine and picking unreal out of all of them just makes me depressed.

I’m kinda glad that EA and Ubisoft (despite their reputations) have mostly decided to stay strong with their own engines.

Dragon Age, Dead Space, Need to Speed Unbound - all running well and looks decent on Frostbite

StarWars and Avatar running SnowDrop as well.

I’m glad they didn’t all adopt unreal 5

I hope they can. It's really dissuaded me from getting any UE5 driven titles. Reality doesn't stutter; all the fancy lightning and shaders are moot.

I honestly hate UE in general and while I do understand the move to it by CD Project Red, I dread the death of inhouse engines. UE for me has been a blight on gaming, since at least UE3. Constant traversal stutter, shader compilation stutters, forced TAA and a bunch of other things. Something else I dislike about UE is that a lot of games end up looking and feeling the same. I honestly wish developers would invest in open source alternative instead, but that will never happen.

I am so sick of Unreal Engine. To varying degrees all games using it look the same. There's something about the look and feel and having so many games using it that makes me diskike UE. 💤💤

I really hope they go as big or way bigger than the Witcher 3 and also avoid these issues.

I was happy about the decision at first, but seeing the graphics they have achieved with cyberpunk I’m not so sure.

Let’s analyse the state of a game that will be released in 2030…

We just have to wait. We dont know it yet

by the time W4 comes out its like 4-5 years with constant updates to the engine and hardware upgrades would probably be a totally different conversation then

Unreal Engine where games go to run like crap

I abandoned PC for console because of it. Three are just WAY too many UE games to live with the stuttering.

Black myth wukong runs at 25 fps on rtx 3090.( with Dlss performance at 4k)We need frame gen to even get above 30. People saying" oh they are going to optimise unreal engine !" are too naive.

These are the same Devs that knowingly released 2077 in the state it was and lied. So wouldn't trust anything anyone says until the games out in the wild.

Question is why hasn't Epic solved this very long standing issue with the Unreal Engine. You'd think this would be something they could fix, they make the engine and work on it all the time.
Seems to me it's an inherent flaw that requires a top to bottom rebuild of the engine and how it works. That is why it hasn't happened. I know CDPR will make their own off-shoot of the engine, because they can and share it with Epic with some tweaks. I can't imagine CDPR would be happy with the constant stutter.

Red Engine in CY2077 is one of the most stable game engines I've seen. You could drive from one end to the other and only have 3-5 fps differences.

They should have kept the red engine and update it
U5 is going to be very bad

They should have stuck with the red engine

The REDengine definitely reached its end of life (just look at Witcher 3 next gen). Although I would've been curious to see what they came up with if they made a new engine, I'm crossing my fingers that they allow some serious shader recompilation in Witcher 4 on UE5.

An entire company deep into the details of Red Engine and they ditch it for an engine with known issues.
