Two things the Californian government can do today to lower the price of gas by over $1. Pause the California gas tax which is currently 53.9 cents a gallon. Adopt the Federal required fuel blend which would allow gas from other states to be sold in California. The current California blend costs roughly 60 cents per gallon more to make.

Years ago I needed a new carburetor for my 1983 Toy 4X4 come to find out I had to buy a one of a kind carb to meet Calif emission REG's $700. I have a 1972 SS El Camino they call it a Calif SS as it's the only model equipped with a 350 CI engine rather than the 454 CI. Calif has been more expensive for a long time even our gas costs the oil co's more to produce.
