I’ve been a metal drummer for almost 40 years and can honestly say that from the first time I heard Jay play with Slipknot, he sounded to me like a prodigy student. Skilled and excited but young and green, lacking in something that only time can bring.
Jay never played a single chop that I had to rewind and listen to again; unlike Joey who played a number of things that I had to play over and over again in order to work them out.

Eloy, on the other hand, is the full package! He is technical and fast and very very musical. Not only this, but he is SLAMMING the drums at a time where other metal drummers are exchanging all of their power for speed.

Just listen to that first fill! A triplet roll around the kit with a perfect flam accenting the snare and then the first note of each of the three toms. That is very hard to play and sounds (chefs kiss)!

This next record is going to be absolutely phenomenal!

With Jay, I feel like I'm on a fast bike, during the rain, feeling really unstable.
With Eloy, I feel like I'm on a 4x4 truck feeling really safe and firm, like strong and precise.

they are both greate and each one of them has his own style we can't compare them because everyone has his own taste of drumming, in the end of the day drumming is an art and every drummer is an artist that's why we are individuals because we are different

Jay was just fine and perfect for Slipknot, I don’t see why all the hate and disapproval of him now after 10 years in the band .

Eloy feels more like Joey than Jay did. Jay was always a classically skilled drummer, playing solely with technique and finesse but that's not Sipknot. Joey had the technique but put so much aggression and raw power on those techniques which lent to that massive hit you like a truck sound Slipknot is known for. Eloy embodys the boom. Jay was playing Slipknot's songs. Eloy is performing them.
