What is IMAP and How To Use It | Email Tutorial

In this video I will talk about IMAP, a way of displaying and synchronizing your emails from your webserver. I will explain all the steps of IMAP and how it communicates with clients like Mac Mail, Microsoft Outlook and Mail on a smartphone.

In this tutorial I will not only show the theory but I will show you how to set an IMAP account on your computer (using Mac Mail, similar to Microsoft Outlook) and show you how to synchronizing works.

Which one is best for replying to emails?
Does replying to an email from an email address where the original email was routed to a new email address through pop3 IMAP or SMTP affect domain reputation because it's sent from a different address?

Its a stupid idea to sync your accounts. Funny how the world is just making it 100 times easier for hackers! Its easy to sync accounts through IMAP with barely any additional info required! Microsoft doesn't pick up its a hacker, even in another country!

Great video. Thank you for clarifying syncing of imap email on multiple devices. I have tried this, but seem to have an issue when archiving email using outlook. It seems the archive folders are somehow stored locally and are not synced across my devices and workstations. 😕

I am attempting to set up an email, on my iPhone Apple 7+, under “incoming server settings” I typed in under “user name” my email I want set up, then typing curser blinks under “password” so I entered my password, now my curser is blinking under “IMAP server”, I have no clue what I am supposed to type in here, next is “Port” it appears to want me to type something in after 993 which is already appearing there. I am not offered a next option without filling in these areas. Can you help me

Hi Ferdy. I have a problem, maybe you can help. All my folders are inside the inbox, and outlook doesnt allow me to get them out. Cant finde also in my cpanel where i can get them out.

Why do we need to use IMAP when we can open up our email account like GMAIL on any device. Why use another app to retrieve the emails amd read them there.
