When I was a kid back in India we used to walk to school....it was almost 8 to 9 kilometre walk...on the half way in the forest there was a huge tamarind tree...me and my mates would throw stones at it and eat it with the salt, chilly powder which will in our school bag...it used to give us strength for the walk...in summer if u eat tamarind and drink water straight after it would give some problems to our tummy..it was happy, carefree childhood days...now I am seeing tamarind after many years and it made me remember all those sweet memories...

My uncle had a tamarind tree in his yard back in Jamaica. Used to love eating them right off the tree or making tamarind balls.

Tamarind nectar is one of my favorite juice drinks, it’s like thick peach juice that’s not super sweet. It can be found with imported foods in most grocery stores.

If y’all don’t know get on it. It is sweet and tart. Sometime so sour you will pucker but you can’t get enough

Don't listen to this narrator, there's nothing wrong with peeling and eating raw tamarind. Its tastes like sour candy, very Delicious

I like tamarind it’s sweet and sour at the same time, in Puerto Rico we make juice but as a kid we open the pods with our mouth and suck on the fruit, and as a lover of Indian food I love tamarind chutney

I was at ALDI this week and noticed a candy that had Tamarind. I didn't know what it was, and now I do. Seems like a flavour I would enjoy.

My first taste of tamarind was at the Ag Fair on the island of St. Croix, USVI. The tamarind fruit and sugar rolled into balls the size of a tangerine. Mind the seeds!!

In India its used in lots of Street foods to give tangy flavour. Lots of stews and curry also has it. When its ripped it can be directly eaten the pulp tastes sweet and sour. But the tamarind that is in block shape or especially for cooking should not be directly consumed

So if it's mostly black and somewhat dry, tastes too sour I'm assuming it's too old by then? 🤔

You know it’s strange, I thought it was native to Mexico this whole time given that they have so many different types of candy and many other types of drinks and dishes made with the fruit and that it’s also grown in Mexico and is really popular with Mexicans and has been a kind of staple of Mexican dishes here in southern texas and of course all throughout Mexico but you don’t really see it much in European dishes or American dishes
