Accessing the NDIS can be tricky, this is the first video in NDSP Plan Managers' 'The NDIS Explained' video series will help breakdown how to access the NDIS and the differences in Agency Management, Self Management and Plan Management.
Video Transcript:
To become an NDIS participant, you must:
Have a permanent and significant disability or developmental delay,
Be of a Certain age
Live in Australia, be an Australian Citizen or hold a permanent visa or a Protected Special Category visa.
Alternatively, you can call the NDIS on 1800 800 110 and request the forms to be sent out to you.
If your application to receive funding from the NDIS is approved, you will have the choice to have your plan managed in three different ways.
Agency Managed, Self-Managed or Plan Managed.
If your plan is Agency Managed, The NDIA will be responsible for paying your invoices and you will only be able to use NDIS registered supports.
Self-Managed means you will be responsible for claiming payment from the NDIS through your Myplace portal for any services you receive.
You will be able to receive support from providers who are not registered with the NDIS.
If you choose to be Self-Managed you can be audited by the NDIS.
