Oh my, what a beautiful place this has become. I would just love to have a DVD to play here in the States. I was invited to Camp Humphreys as a guest of the Army in 2007. There were no buildings there like these now. I was very impressed back then but like WOW! I stayed in the Humphreys Lodge on post. That was nice as well. Ben's nephew and his wife were there with me and that was their 2nd visit. I would love to be there for a bit now, but, I am a little too old probably to make that kind of a trip now. I do appreciate seeing this. A friend of mine who also lives here in Fayetteville, NC and works for a Congressman sent me this video in a Private Message and I so appreciate her doing that. I hope all of the personnel there stay safe and enjoy their tours at The Hump. My husband would not believe that this place was actually named in his honor. It was my honor to be married to him. Ben's mother would not sign for him to join the Army so when he became 17 in December of 1945 he joined the Army on March 1, 1946, then I married it, in December 1950, married him too.

This is a very accurate representation of what to expect upon arriving at this base. Super, super awesome base for families and couples with spouses PCSing for the first time

Hard to believe it's been over 30 years since my ex was stationed there. I have fond memories of working in the VERY tiny commissary, the coin slots on post, and the shopping in the ville! :) Wish I could go back.

I used to be a KATUSA soldier and got a basic training in camp humpreys for 3 weeks back in 1994. A drill instructor gave us a hard time but time makes it a kinda fun memory. Watching these modern facilities I want to work for USFK once again.

I just left Humphreys this past January. The base itself is great but I was with a toxic unit

My wife and I were stationed together there in fall of 86 to fall of 87. This looks wonderful compared to what we had there. We had a very very small “Shopette” and a small PX. Still almost all small Quonset Huts then, did have a stand alone Burger King but that was it for restaurant and the mess hall. I’m guessing the “Steam and Cream” is long gone! Hahahaha! It was not a beautiful place like this. We did have a bowling alley and a theater though. We had to get taxis back and forth to Osan Air Base to get groceries. And they were always out of bananas. You would think that wasn’t a big deal but it seemed to be at the time. Everyone complained about that! Hahahaaha. This is fabulous for those soldiers and their families! Wow!

Wow I like Camp Humphrey's! My mom used to work at Camp Henry in Daegu back in the 1960s. I still miss Korea.I used to teach English in Anyang! There are times I miss this place. I wish Tim Horton's was in Korea. Although it was a Canadian franchise, it is an American franchise bought by Burger King, before it was Wendy's. My dad met Tim Horton thehockey player back in Toronto. He played for the Buffalo Sabres and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Tim Horton's used to sellhot dogs and hamburgers, it did not go well. In my opinion it is better than Dunkin Donuts. While I was in New York I sawTim Horton's replace Dunkin Donuts. I guess Yongsan is now built like a park and a swimming pool. I live in Canada, butI used to live in California. I live in Surrey, British Columbia next to Washington state. Home of Camp Casey and FortLewis.

Wow this better than some military state side bases. I was there in 1990. It doesn't even look like Korea.

Now make a single soldier edition to showcase how trash it actually is. Sure would be nice if i could get BAH to rent an apartment that has a kitchen bigger than the 2 man barracks rooms. Thanks Army

As a Korean, I want to make it clear that South Korea is not a defeated country in World War II. We are not Japan, Germany or Italy. South Korea has sovereignty over the territory and infrastructure of the U.S. military base in South Korea. The United States only has jurisdiction and operation of the U.S. military base in South Korea, And the infrastructure within the U.S. military base is funded by our South Korean taxpayers.

You can station troops in South Korea because South Korea has voluntarily signed the "South Korea-US Mutual Defense Treaty" with the United States. According to Article 4, South Korea gives the United States the power to deploy army, navy and air forces within or around South Korean territory.

But don't forget that according to Article 6 of the South Korea-US Mutual Defense Treaty, either party can unilaterally terminate the treaty and expire after one year. That is to say, South Korea can terminate the treaty so that the U.S. military and its strategic assets can be withdrawn from South Korea and return all U.S. military bases.
