I was there in 2000 when there was no commissary on post and Anjeong-ri was super quiet. Things change. I stayed up in Seoul in 2018. I liked quiet Camp Humphreys for what it was and didn't want to see how much it's exploded.

I spent 6 years in Germany with the 3rd Armored Div. "Spearhead"... but never went to Korea. All the guys that went in the 1970s that I knew complained how bad it was there. Looks very nice now.   When 3rd AD left Germany MANY kasernes closed and the German economy really suffered.

As a Korean, I want to make it clear that South Korea is not a defeated country in World War II. We are not Japan, Germany or Italy. South Korea has sovereignty over the territory and infrastructure of the U.S. military base in South Korea. The United States only has jurisdiction and operation of the U.S. military base in South Korea, And the infrastructure within the U.S. military base is funded by our South Korean taxpayers.

You can station troops in South Korea because South Korea has voluntarily signed the "South Korea-US Mutual Defense Treaty" with the United States. According to Article 4, South Korea gives the United States the power to deploy army, navy and air forces within or around South Korean territory.

But don't forget that according to Article 6 of the South Korea-US Mutual Defense Treaty, either party can unilaterally terminate the treaty and expire after one year. That is to say, South Korea can terminate the treaty so that the U.S. military and its strategic assets can be withdrawn from South Korea and return all U.S. military bases.

Looks great, but putting your eggs in one basket is trouble when N. Korea could launch one missile and Camp Humphreys is gone off the map.

*You ever just post memes into the comment sections of videos that are in no way related to memes at all?*
