MultiCam® Effectiveness PART I

This is PART I of II: In this video I test the effectiveness of MultiCam camouflage in a wooded vegetative environment. This video includes scenes that show the patterns use when both concealed with and without the use of vegetation in the environment, as well as what the pattern looks like moving and stationary. Hopefully by watching these videos you can get a grasp of the patterns potential and limitations in this type of environment. Thanks for watching!

I was very happy getting issued Multicam when I deployed in 2011. Granted the alternative was UCP so anything is a step up from that. It worked great around Ft. Bliss and in the Wardak Province.

Gentleman I know this is a serious video and Brent already knows that this is heroic work to show the people these camo patterns so we could determine what we might need in our areas. But I must say at 4 minutes and 19 seconds that walk that Brent does across the path really just tickles me some way and he's serious as a mug to that's what I love about it. Stayfree

For those of you saying it doesn't work in the forest, you could be wearing a bright yellow shirt and jeans and still disappear in this environment as long as you know a thing or two about camouflage. Camouflage is only meant to break up your outline and won't make you invisible. An accurate rifle doesn't make you a better marksman if you don't even know the fundamentals of marksmanship

Thanks for the videos and as well as the effort you put into them
As an airsofter, your camo videos sure did save my ass in certain scenarios by picking out the right camo for whatever environment I'm being thrown in.
Anyway, I thank you for serving this blessed country as a Marine. SEMPER FI!

Wow, best camouflage pattern I've seen so far. While most of the camouflage patterns are way too dark, this one perfectly blends with the environment, as you can see at 05:31. I served in the German army a few years ago and due to the darkness of the camouflage pattern (often referred to as "Flecktarn"), German soldiers observed from the distance appear as dark spot in almost every environment. Bottom Line for me? MultiCam rocks!

This was my uniform in Afghanistan. I loved it over the ACU which was probably the worst uniform in US Army history.

Had fun picking you out ....i paused the video each time to see if i could spot you. The fact I knew you were there on purpose....made it simpler...however...stillness is an effective part of camoflage. Even though you were wearing multicam...so long as you were still...someone would easily pass by. Thanks for the video. I am a personal fan of the green and brown tiger stripe. There is the vietnamese version also but it has too much yellow/tan for my liking. I've had my tigers for 19 years now. I don't wear them daily so they have managed to hold their colour without too much fading. Camouflage has been a passion of mine since gradeschool. Every project I ever did was on camouflage in nature or stealth. I may just have to post a video one day.

I had to look a lot harder in the Multicam Tropoic video. Thanks for making this. You've confirmed my thoughts on the matter.

I'm kinda partial to Tiger Stripe myself, with woodland being a close second. Great series of videos. Thanks

I would say that it is excellent in that environment. I was able to spot you at 2:23 in the light green grass, but still very good. I think it was best near or in the creek bed.

I love multicam. its really all I have other than woodland bdu, and woodland marpat. It does better than you would think in such a green environment. I subbed.

I enjoyed the video tremendously. Not being military, I cheated a bit and slapped pause on every scene, giving myself 5 seconds to spot. 4:01 and 4:23 were effective, together with where you moved to at 5:04. 5:32 struck me as the best blending location. Got the rest by my method, mainly through shape, though for it's multipurpose design it was excellent; some additional work on the outlines with available foliage would easily counter shape recognition and address tone issues. Can definitely see it's appeal in the depicted environment.

How reflective they clothing is makes a big difference. I’ve got some multi cam clothes that are made of a worn cotton and they are the same as wearing blue jeans. And yet the polyester multi cam which has more of a “wet” look to it blends in perfectly. The stuff you’re wearing in this video reminds me of my blue jeans.. just worn, reflective and almost white.

Sir, spotted you every single time except 4:00 because only a small part of your body is in the edge of the camera screen. It is really easy to spot you, just find the color discrepancy out of the lush green to easily spot the multi-cam's dull dirty green. Will be really easy for the enemy who knows your uniform's colors. Its kinda like the old story of Vietnam tiger strips fading after wash due to poor quality and became counter effective.
