This tool can be used when installing the chain. It holds both ends of the open chain which helps to install the chainlink easier. And of course you should remove it before turning the cranks 😅

This is just stupid, turn off the clutch on the derailleur (if it has one) push it forward so there is no tension and just pop it off 😐
