Being on the road for 3 years, with no breaks, will put plenty of tension on any band.

I have a high schooler grandson who is learning guitar. I gave him my Martin HD-28 and he is doing well with it. He plays crisp clean notes and learning first position chords and timing right now. That said, he is eyeing my electric guitar and I believe that is where he will find his home. I know of no better musician than Mark Knopfler, so that is my second gift to my grandson, watch everything Mark Knopfler does.

It's hard to work with your brother .But when they go you would give anything to have them back . I miss my brother like mad, we fought like cat and dog.

I thought that they had a big bust up and this video confirms that - though to lose a brother from your life is too big a price in my opinion.

David doesn’t come across as bitter and I hope that he was compensated as I believe that he was right when he said Dire Straits would not have existed if it were not for him.

There is no doubt that Mark is in a league above and deserves the success he has achieved.

That's too bad they didn't get along, they both are amazingly gifted musicians

Their voices are surprisingly similar. I never knew that.

He said it bluntly DS was mark's band there's no room for the others mark reduced them to mere musicians although they are as gifted as him
It's natural and normal in every band there must be a leader with the others playing his music people didn't notice that mark not only was one of the greatest guitarists in the world but he was also one of the greatest lyricists mark's dominance paid off he took DS to a dimension no-one has ever thought of and he deserved it the proof that when he terminated the band no-one took over I remember in the early days of DS a journalist asked him a good question is DS 💯% mark or 98% Mark humbly stated that the whole credit goes to the whole band
It's true he should have treated David respectfully but they surmounted that period and mark contributed in David's solo albums adding guitars here and there

The first album and Making Movies are the best Dire Straits albums IMO

Dire straits wouldn't have happened without dave but it wouldn't have been any good without Mark cos he was a blues master who knew the 3 kings backwards.

This was filmed about a year after Mark gave up on his dream of being a bodybuilder.

It’s the cleverness of Marks lyrics that makes him special. Then you have the guitar that makes him a legend. Should make up if they haven’t done so yet.

Well, that manager sure is a real scumbag character.
Bad management, as in, bad leadership and advice to the most prominent band members has ended, or at least split too many a bands for me to mention.

It's odd to me that people who achieve such inordinate success can become so alienated from one another. You see it in band after band. I never thought Ian Anderson and Martin Barre would end up badly, but it did obviously. Having talented brothers like Mark and David ending badly seems so unnecessary- plenty of fortune, fame and artistry to be shared by all. With success has to come a certain degree of entitlement and narcissistic vigor apparently... sad but again and again... true

😂Mark Knophler should be totally ashamed of his behaviour.. David did the main job in togather then Mark took him off at the bud.David twice the Man.
