I don’t comment much, but just wanted to say that I’ve watched booktube for nearly a decade, and often get bored of channels. You’re on a short list of people I never grow tired of talking books.

Between your video and the comments section, I am starting a separate TBR list so they don't get lost in the other genres. Lots of love from the Pacific Northwest 🧡

Rachel, you’re easily becoming my favorite booktuber. You bring a diverse list of recommendations. Lost Ark and Water Knife added to the tbr. Thank you my friend.

Been reading destroyer men series … I discovered Taylor Anderson last year while looking for new reads, and I am glad I did. Destroyermen is the story of a pair of World War II destroyers at the beginning of World War 2 that are sucked into a dimensional rift to a world where dinosaurs didn't die out. Instead they evolved into an intelligence that threatens to destroy the other intelligent race of the planet, the Lemur like Lemurians…A very well written book by a man that understands history and naval warfare, and a great introduction to an interesting series. Highly recommended.

Got me at Mass Effect. I'll put it on the TBR pile.

Thanks for making my TBR even MORE unwieldy! If you want gritty with a female warrior lead, try Elizabeth Moon's 'The Deed of Paksenarion' trilogy! One of my favourites, makes fantasy completely grounded and believable.

I’ll put Praxis on my list. Sounds awesome. Yeah, it’s good when books like that are serious and have high stakes. Great vid! 📚📚📚📚👍🏻

so glad to hear walter jon williams is still around. Read his aristoi and one other of his books way back when and loved them esp aristoi. Currently reading the warehouse by rob hart a near future dystopian thriller about an amazon-type company that more or less owns the US. It came out a few yrs ago so you may already have read it.⚛😀❤

Just finished "The Silverblood Promise" by James Logan, based I'm pretty sure on your recommendation and *loved* it. Now I just have to wait for more!

Hi Rachel, some interesting books for sure, I'm glad you keep finding less well known authors it helps with me when I'm looking for something fresh to read.
May's reading was excellent for me, with my first 5 star book of this year and possible/probable book of the year also.
I read 4 books:
Into The Wild - Jon Krakauer
Morning Star - Pierce Brown
One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest - Ken Kesey
The Easy Life in Kamusari - Shion Miura
and 2 comic books:
Judge Dredd – The Complete Case Files 35
Judge Dredd – The Complete Case Files 36

My book of the month and 5 Star read was: One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. It is amazing, a must read for everyone.

I'm a fan of Walter Jon Williams. "Aristoi" is a fascinating look at how people would work with direct mental connection to AI. I also enjoyed "Metropolitan".

The Praxis / Dread Empires’s Fall series is chronically underrated. There’s two trilogies. The first 3 books are very strong, and a great read. And honestly, if it stopped there I’d have been happy. The second trilogy is good, but definitely falls off toward the end, and the second half of the last book felt like it was being phoned in. There’s a couple of novellas that have the main characters, but are standalone that I also enjoyed.

Loved the hard sci fi aspect. It’s kinda like The Expanse, crossed with Downton Abbey - with all the lords and ladies and high society stuff going on. If nerding out on orbital mechanics, and the physics of capital class space navy combat is your thing, you’ll enjoy it.

I love Jack Campell's Lost Fleet series and related series.

I always enjoy your videos. Love seeing less well known books. Refreshing compared to other channels that go on forever about huge best sellers.

I noticed you didn't try to pronounce Bacigalupi. ;) Looks Italian, which means it should be: bah chi gah LOO pee.
Also, just FYI, Django is pronounced with a silent D and a really hard J, like so hard that you're basically snarling when you say it.
