I have been playing this without knowing it’s the Ruy Lopez. After I found out, I thought why not learn how to actually play it. Actually explaining the “missions” of the pieces is something I’ve never seen anyone do, and means that I actually understand how to use the opening, especially in my 700 elo where the other player will often make a mistake and I don’t know how to punish it.
