I try hooking them right their spine in the back. Either way I think both methods work great

Some times when I’m fishing for catfish I would cut the shiner in half and hook it near the gut and it never failed me when I’m getting a bite

I do that method for Blueback Herring. They seem to live longer than being hooked behind the back.

Thanks for the tip. Since I started keeping fish for pets and finally learned that they do feel pain after that conclusive study I havent used live bait. This causes minimal pain and now i can morally justify live bait again. Thanks 😂😂

How the heck is this not illegal. Even within the seafood industry its considered cruel to cur a fish before they are killed. You are straight up stabbing them. 😔
